O/S Daily Thread Tuesday 2nd September

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

  • Good morning everyone :)

Usual hi and fly by but will try and pop back later for a catch up with news.

DH's first day of teaching today .... except no-one has any idea of who or where. The average classroom holds 24 students and he has a class of 61, you couldn't make it up!

Islandmaid - your wedding photo is absolutely beautiful, thank you so much for sharing your day with us

Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those that need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super day.

    TTFTM x

  • Morning all
TTFM, I feel so sorry for your husband, I've seen so many good staff put under stupid amounts of pressure.
Full day at work for me today, I only did 5 or 6 hours yesterday, I came home once I'd finished my work.
A couple of people commented on how well I looked, that won't last, lol.
    Time I left for work.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester
    Chin up, Titus out.

    Morning all,

Looks like another good day here was very busy at work yesterday and I suspect more of the same today.

Dropped dd off at her new place yesterday I must admit it was hard walking away and leaving her there :o I know she will be ok but I do have a few reservations about the girl she is living with, who's boyfriend seems to think its his house too ! As long as they are ok I don't mind.

TTFTM 61 students  poor man I do feel for him x

Islandmaid you both look so happy xx

Off to work for me need to get in early as its going to be a busy day and I have a lot of ordering to do and a review that must be done today so will go in and have a quiet 1/2 hour before anyone else gets in.

Dinner tonight will be some salmon fillets with new potatoes and some roasted tomatoes.

Need to do a wash tonight and have a tidy round.

    Have good days all xx

    Morning all:hello:

    Hope everyone is doing well.

TTFTM-61! That will be one busy day!Best of luck to him. Let us know how he gets on.

Am the only one up at the moment so I am enjoying the piece and quiet before the madness starts!

I am off today so it is a great chance to get some cleaning and decluttering done
    NOT BUYING IT 2018!

Consumerism is.....buying things you don't need with money you don't have to impress people you don't know and probably wouldn't like even if you did know them.

Morning :hello: TTFTM - thanks for starting today's thread :D.

Good luck to your OH on his first day - that sounds like an horrendous number of kids for ONE man to handle in ONE class .

I'm so sorry, Good Advice - somehow I missed out on your post about it being your anniversary yesterday - Congratulations to the two of you :T!

Morning Hester - good luck in work today and to everybody else whose jobs re-start properly after the school hols. My DSis is back in today - she's a TA - for the first time since Mum passed away.

redruby - hope your DD can 'stand her ground' with her new room-mate and that they can make good friends when her b/f isn't around. Perhaps they can establish a bit of a 'girly routine' between themselves.

1of3 - best of luck with the decluttering :D.

Managed to get Bouncing Billy returned to his parents yesterday - sent a Rhubarb & Apple Crumble back with him too - hope I get my dish and teatowels back ;). Little darling is back-to-school this morning :j - so no chance of an unexpected visit from him and his Daddy!

    Plans for today include:
    • Finish off the last bit of DSis's skirt and return it to her.
    • No CS today as the lady I've been covering for is now back home from her hols and Tuesday shifts are back to normal rota. So I'm taking this opportunity to get back to my Family History Group meeting, as I've not been there for weeks :o. Luckily DSis and the FHG are in the same town :j so both area easily done at the same time :D.
    • Try to call in on DD on the same journey as she lives close to DSis.
    • Evening Meal can be 'Salad Subs' as I won't get back home until around 7.15pm.

Welcome back from your hols, MrsMH .

Sending HShugehugs.gif to everybody who could use one and hope you all have a good day with lots of OS-ing.

speak again later, luv Lilyplonk xxx

    Morning everyone

Islandmaid – gorgeous pic, love your dress x

Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.

Now light, sun now trying to shine.

DH up and enjoying a cuppa, and getting ready for work.

Dinner last night was smoked sausage pasta, all eaten and enjoyed.

Have changed the plan a bit for tonight, DS1 got some chicken breast strips out of the freezer so I’ll cook them in some sort of sauce, and then do new potatoes, stuffed peppers etc too (have quite a few peppers that need using up) will stuff them either with savoury rice or cous cous – may do some of each. This is a change from the menu plan but am trying to use up fresh food that we have in, and also produce a different meal. Have done an on-line order that will be delivered on Thurs afternoon – really don’t like doing this but it’s convenient whilst I’m out of action, always seems to cost me a fortune, but I obviously only shop there – normally I go to a couple of different places so in real terms probably doesn’t cost me any more than normal.

Today I’ll be re-adjusting the shopping list as there’s a couple of things I need to add, also will be trying to take it steady as yesterday morning had some pain in my foot – and this is happening if I “try” to do a few bits (only sitting on a chair folding washing, prepping food etc) now know why the docs have said “keep off your foot, with your leg elevated as much as possible).

    Take care x

    Keep safe and well x

  • Morning chums I think I may need a new alarm clock, for some reason the alarm didn't go off at usual time but an hour earlier. It was a CS one about three years old and only cost 50p so I think I've had my moneysworth from it.I'll give it one last chance tonight :) and if its not doing its job it will get binned and a trip to the CS will be on the cards. I have got a thing about gadgets that don't work properly :):):)
Mask-making today with DGS Mikey for his school project, so my crafting pens are all packed into my knitting bag ready.
Bit overcast at the moment, but not cold and at least its dry.
Have a godd day everyone what ever you are doing

I've sorted the old laptop, I'm surprised at how well it works :D I'm halfway through mine, I'd forgotten just how many photos I've taken. I'll finish sorting it today. Miss tru's stuff hasn't been done, she forgot about a doctor's appointment and had to rush back out, she couldn't be bothered when she got back home.

Lacy Chick has a bit of a cold, I think. She's eating/drinking as she should and generally being chickeny, but I'll ring the place we bought her from – they're fab for advice. And as we haven't had her long, they'd want to know in case it's something that their other chickens might have too.

I haven't thought of a goal for september (I try and challenge myself to at least one thing each month). I've racked my brains but can't come up with anything.

Good advice - happy anniversary for yesterday!

Islandmaid - gorgeous photo, congrats :)

    Morning all!

Just been for a run and waiting for breakfast to cook, tis a large flat mushroom stuffed with onion, garlic, breadcrumbs, pine nuts and is delicious, I had one for dinner last night with wedges. hubs and the cat are in bed still, lazy bunch.

Revision and work are on the agenda today, I have 4 exams on October 3rd, so need to knuckle down and study.

Kitchen was cleaned last night, will do a clothes wash and clean bathroom tonight, living room could do with a little tidy too, but will give that task to hubs to sort. I think dinner will be stir fry, but it's possible I may change my mind...

    Have a good day all
