I'm looking for some help please.
In just about to get my decree absolute and wondered how to go about reverting back to my maiden name officially.
I know this is simple if it's straight forward and you just need to produce your marriage certificate and absolute.
I've got a different situation though - this is my second divorce and the first time around I kept my former husband's name until I but this time I want to revert to my maiden name.
Is there a way that I can get changed on my bank accounts / driving licence etc without needing to have the whole paper trail as my decree absolute won't show my maiden name.
Thanks

Change it by Deed Poll?2 angels in heaven :A0

If you have both marriage certificates and both decree absolutes I wouldn't have thought it'd be too complicated. There's a clear 'trail' there back to your birth name with only 4 sheets of paper. You've had the right to use your original name all along anyway!0

Write to the bank and say from x date you'll be known as Miss Y. Simple.0

You don't need to do anything other than change your name on your bank etc. you can call yourself what you like.0

Legally you can call yourself what the hell you like as long as you dont try to defraud others by it. The "issue" is convincing certain agencies/ companies that this indeed the name you use and its not for fraudulent purposes
This one should be easily solved though using decree absolute and birth certificate.0 -

Unfortunately this is my 3rd divorce (I'm obviously not good at marriage!:rotfl:) and I haven't got the complete paper trail.
I managed to take me decree nisi and most of the other paperwork into Barclays and they changed it.
I guess that once I've done it at one or two it will be easier as I can use the statements as proof?0 -
Saying that you've reverted to your maiden name and producing your birth certificate should be enough. Most of us only have one birth certificate to hand and it's a PITA and feels a bit risky to keep sending it off. However, Deed Poll does make it so much easier. It's worthwhile getting some extra copies of the Deed Poll made at the time.0

Going on the GRO website to order a few extra copies of your birth certificate is much easier and quicker than doing a deed poll and getting extra copies of it.
Something went wrong when I did mine and ended up with circa 20 copies rather than the 2 I asked for with just a note saying they'd messed up and thought I may as well have them all.0 -
