I know, I'm just joking. That was right at the start!

Given that the third divorce was from Rachel, it wasn't anywhere near the start!

I was married twice and kept my married name for 'the sake of the children' and simplicity after my first marriage broke down. 12 years ago, after the second one went wrong after 23 years I reverted to my maiden name, even though my ex and I are not divorced. I was advised to see a solicitor which I did, he assured me there is no need to apply legally, I could just myself anything I wanted. All the utility companies etc were absolutely fine with it, no problems with the banks, the only company who wanted to see proof was my mobile phone provider! After much to-ing and fro-ing I eventually suggested they take legal advice and they relented.

Don't think I'll be watching friends, it sounds much more confusing that changing your name!

What about for your passport and driving license etc?

i sent them both with a copy of my birth certificate and a covering letter - I would suggest sending one with every document to be changed - I think there was a charge for the passport but not the drivers licence. The same with my medical certificate, it was changed with no trouble at all.

I think sometimes we overthink things when in fact they can really be quite simple once we take steps to do what we want. I used to be guilty of this myself, now I'm of an age when I just do it, or NIKE as my DGC say!
