When DS1 was in year 1, I was invited to a thingymebob gathering at DS1 best friends house. His mum showed me the most loveliest donkey outfit that she had made for him…. I had just gathered brown tights, a brown top and rudimental ears. The following day I bought material and sat up all night hand sewing him a costume.:o:o

Our local Sat morn kids' cinema had an annual fancy dress competition, and one year my mum got an old pair of pyjamas, coated them with glue and covered them in wood shavings, and I went as A Chip Off The Old Block:rotfl:I won, too.
Well done :T:T:T0 -

I know, it was so much better. Not only were there no fancy dress shops, though, we probably couldn't have afforded to buy them anyway; or rather, my parents had better things to spend their money on, and it gave us kids something to do.
For my sister's fancy dress, Mum also got some old pyjamas, coated in glue and covered them in spent matches (took aaagees!), and she went as 'On Strike' (this was the era of the 3-Day Week, so very topical):)'It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.'

Oh, I used to love fancy dress, got myself far too caught up in it. Made some fantastic ones.“Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?”
