SM - I am going to try to get my 2 to stick at it. I will feel so much better if they learn to defend themselves. We live in quite a rough area and I worry for them so much especially now dd2 is at high school and ds2 wants to play out.
That is great news.
I always approached activities like this as helping them become more rounded, and to be able to protect yourself is key in todays society.
And in relation to the kids reluctance to go once the initial shine has worn off, I believed that it was good for the character to continue and persevere, but I also had in the back of my head that the first time they come out saying they did not enjoy it, I would not make them go back….. they never didn't enjoy it, once I had dragged them there!100 -

Our local Sat morn kids' cinema had an annual fancy dress competition, and one year my mum got an old pair of pyjamas, coated them with glue and covered them in wood shavings, and I went as A Chip Off The Old Block:rotfl:I won, too.'It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.'

Fancy dress competitions were so much better in the days when costumes could not be bought willy nilly :T:T0 -
