  • How exciting BB! Can't wait to hear how things pan out with the house and the wedding.

I love the way you're approaching things for the big day - vintage china is a fabulous idea and will look so pretty.

    Good luck with everything

  • Thank you Fortune! I'm hoping I'll be able to join the MFW forum eventually as that's going to be the next challenge!

Going to email solicitor tomorrow to ask if there's any paperwork we need to look over at the weekend. Doubt there will be but everyone is silent at the moment and it's making me even more nervous :o I don't like to wish away my life but if the next few weeks could go by smoothly and quickly then that would be great.

Gentleman Caller was working last weekend so instead I saw my oldest friend, I've known her since we were 2 years old. She's now pregnant, due in 11 weeks, and said she'll be glad when it's all over as she's been in a lot of pain :( Took her out for lunch, followed her cravings and went to a tearoom for pancakes and bacon, with decaf coffee for her and a big pot of tea for me. We then had a mooch around the charity shops (got a teapot!), and then I drove her home as she was worn out. Hoping the next 11 weeks go by smoothly for her too and that she gets lots of rest before she has a tiny person to look after. Another friend is having twins and is due in September, but her doctors have said they can whip them out at any moment should the need arise  She's overseas though so it'll be some time before I can have a twin cuddle, contenting myself by sending her parcels with baby clothes and chocolate.

Finally remembered to cash out the Euros from our Rome trip back in May, sold them to my Dad in the end so got £95. That's £45 for furniture and £50 for the wedding. Need to take some wedding money out in cash as I'm losing track of what I've spent on china.

Oh and also renewed my car insurance this evening. Old insurer quoted me £396, got it for £353 and went through Quidco, but I've sent a message to their Help Centre as I think they tracked too much. I don't want to claim money that isn't mine so highlighted the issue to them, will see what they say in the next few days.

Not enjoying this hot weather I'm afraid. Warm I'm fine with but hot is just horrible, especially as the bus I get becomes a steam cooker on wheels, yuck!

  • House sale has fallen through, student tenants are invoking a clause in the contract that lets them stay for another year :(

Knew I was right to not get overexcited about it.

How mean of them. I am so sorry about the bad news BB. Try to have a good evening.

  • I wish they could understand the heartache they've caused :( It's just a student house to them, they're clearly not looking after it, and our first visit they complained about dreadful the letting agents were, so why decide to stay? Gentleman Caller thinks the Agents have been lying to us somewhere along the line and have been using us to get a new contract out of them.

Nothing new has come up in our preferred area in the past month :( My only hope now is that some students in other properties will have moved out in August and some other places will come up in September.

I've had a year of sleeping on a sofa, crap sleep, no freedom, no real privacy, my entire life in storage, I just want my home with my fiancee :(
  • How disappointing BB. But what's for you won't go by you. It'll happen for you at the right time.

I am so sorry. I know it's a saying but they say everything happens for a reason I am glad you are not buying a student house I cant imagine how much tidying up that would require. I hope the perfect place turns up soon. Big hugs.

  • Fortune - That's something my Scottish colleague said to me back in June when we were told the house had sold to someone else, I've written it on my board at work to remind me.

SW - My Polish housemates used to repeat that to me a lot, it's been going through my head all day today.

Feeling less sad about it today, more just disappointed and cross. Solicitor was very kind and said they would hold off invoicing us for a month in the hope that we'll find another property. Going to see Gentleman Caller this weekend for lots of hugs, and considering a plan of action.
