Kiddicare sold me a used car seat

I bought an ex display car seat in Kiddicares closing down sale at the weekend. When we got home we took the covers off it to check it before putting it in the car. Under the covers were full of crumbs and covered in sticky juice residue. The cup holder was full of juice as well.
I believe that because this wasn't pointed out at the time of purchase I am entitled to a refund/replacement.
Kiddicare are brushing it off and telling me I have to deal with the store which normally I'd be fine with however the store closes on Wednesday and I won't be able to get back there in time (I work).
Isn't Kiddicare ultimately responsible for what their stores sell or are the stores a different company?
To be honest I only paid £15 for the seat, I would just clean it and use it except I feel there's a good chance it was either returned as faulty or had been in an accident and should have been disposed of.
Thanks in advance for any advice!

I definitely wouldn't accept it because it has been used. Ex-display is not the same in my opinion.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0

It's a downright lie. I would speak to consumer direct today. Very surprised the ho didn't take it more seriously.their review are terrible. Not the first time they've done this according to reviews.

From their own website -
Don't accept a hand-me-down car seat. You never know, it could be damaged0 -
I paid with debit card.
They have now told me they can't refund the money but will give me a credit against another car seat. The one I want is current twice the price as when I bought one two or three months ago and I'm not willing to pay that much when I know it will come down again and I'm not in a hurry for it.0 -
You are entitled to a refund. You do not have to take a credit.0

Are Kiddicare closing down completely, or just their retail shops?
Legally hollydays is right. But if the staff are all going to be out of a job they probably don't care. If you don't take the credit will you have any comeback, or will the whole business have closed so you're left with the old seat? The credit may be the least worst option.0 -

They are closing the majority of their stores - only the Peterborough one will stay open. The website will still run as normal.0 -
is it possible that the car seat had been 'test driven' in store by another family, whose child was blissfully munching on a rusk and a drink? are there any marks on the frame consistant with being tied into a car?0

Or a unicorn sat in it?0
