Foods I eat in summer that don't need cooking: Tinned tuna, corned beef, tomatoes, sliced pepper, cherry tomatoes, grated raw carrots.
As you say you're on a diet, I didn't mention: potato salad using tinned spuds, cheese/onion quiche bought from a shop, cheese/salad cream sandwiches, crisps.
Little cooking required would include boiled eggs, which I make in a microwave so it's "not like cooking". Cous cous is also little cooking required - just pour on boiling water and wait.0 -
We eat a lot of salad, especially Greek salad as I don't like lettuce-type things except spinach, with additional protein like salmon or hardboiled eggs. I even have salad for breakfast when I feel like it.
What's in a Greek salad?Do you eat fish? Fresh fish is nice but if you don't want to cook tin salmon or pilchards etc goes with a salad. Also lots of different cheeses with various pickles. Hard boiled eggs don't exactly take much cooking but are nice either as egg mayo or with something like tomatoes. I eat a lot of things like crustless quiche but off course they need cooking. Most supermarkets sell pate which you could have with toast or salad again. Filled pitta pockets.

Hard boiled egg in the microwave?
Yes, you can try it by wrapping the egg in foil and dropping it into a small bowl/mug of water ... but I've not done that.
I've got a gadget for it - put a bit of water in, put the egg into the gadget, screw it up, nuke for 4.5 minutes on half power for a boiled egg for dipping, or 6 minutes for a hard boiled egg.
The inside of the gadget is metal, the outside plastic.
It's brilliant - I've got two ... one does one egg, the other does four.

Oh wow! Need to be getting one of these!0 -
Greek salad (for me) is tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, red onion and feta, with some basic olive oil/balsamic dressing. I add olives when it's just me. Fresh mint and/or coriander if you have it is lovely."Save £12k in 2019" #120 - £100,699.57/£100,0000

Hummus is nice, with flat bread or pitta bread. You can make it at home if you have a kitchen blender. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
