Looks like I will have to invest in a blind at very least :(
Meritaden - I have a small kitchen & a gas cooker - I would be worried about the fan blowing the gas out
I have a leccy steamer that I havent really used much since xmas & had forgotten about - thanks for reminding me  I we also have a large George Forman grill that I dont use much as its such a faf to clear enough space for it but I will def bear it in mind :j

You know those blackout blinds you can get? Some block heat as well as light, although not totally. The claims are that the best quality ones block out 66% of heat. They call them thermal blackout blinds, here's an example of one (not that I am recommending that one, it's just an example).
I refuse to be afraid of the big bad wolf, spiders, or debt collection agencies; one of them's not real and the other two are powerless without my fear.
(Ok, one of them is powerless, spiders can be nasty.)

As of the last count I have cleared
    [STRIKE]23.16%[/STRIKE] 22.49% of my debt. :(

oops -you direct the fan away from the cooker!!! if you site it near a window then it will blow the air into a cool zone. and as I was thinking caravan I forgot one important kitchen appliance - the George! George foreman grill - very handy and doesnt heat up the kitchen!

Could you all suggest some summer slow cooker recipes or any other inspirational ideas for cooked meals (not salads as we often have these for lunch) for these lovely summer evenings. :A

We're having lots of quiche, omelette, fish, herby pesto, pasta and sauces made from fresh veg atm :)

As this has fallen from the front page, I'll add it to the existing thread on cooking in the summer, to give you more ideas.

    Morning all,
I'm lucky enough to have a childfree day today and am sat in the sun with my feet up and my notepad in front of me, ready to do my mealplan for the two weeks at the start of May.
Unfortunately I seem to be stuck in a chilli/stew/bolognese frame of mind and am struggling to come up with lighter, more interesting meal ideas for evening meals
It's me, DH and two girls age 3 and 4 to feed. DH is a pain in the rear end and the only veg he eats is marrowfat peas (gross!). I used to try to cater to his limited tastes but now I just tend to do whatever and he can just eat the bits he likes. My kids are getting much better at trying new things than they were previously which is great.

I'll be getting my next Student Finance payment before this shop so will have a more flexible budget so it seems like a good time to try some new dishes out.
    Any ideas gratefully received!

I'm not very good at succinct. Why say something in 10 words when 100 will do?
