Whilst best to explore all of the other suggested routes first (i.e. direct with Eon and the Ombudsman) if you've proven the data to be inaccurate and Eon still refuse to amend it then you can go down the County Court route requesting an order for the data to be corrected alongside a claim for breach of duty of care by negligent misstatement. Losses and costs could be included in that claim.0

E.ON have actually given a reasonable response.
What they report to CRAs reflects the state of someone's account, so what the OP needs to do is as advised: contact E.ON with details of tenancy and leaving date so that the account can be corrected.0 -
Hi francescaf2704,
As I said in my earlier post I'm happy to help you, as long as we have the tenancy agreement or any supporting documents.
You can email me to the email address in my profile.
Thanks
Amy:)“Official Company Representative
I am an official company representative of E.ON. MSE has given permission for me to post in response to queries about the company, so that I can help solve issues. You can see my name on the companies with permission to post list. I am not allowed to tout for business at all. If you believe I am please report it to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com This does NOT imply any form of approval of my company or its products by MSE"0 -
Much as I hate to side with E ON, they won't change credit data based on what an ex-customer has shared on this forum! To get a better understanding you need to put yourself in E.ONs shoes for a moment and then respond accordingly. Consider this; you had an electricity account, energy was used and you didn't pay for it. E.ON are not party to any discussions or agreements you had with your landlady. All they know is that your account wasn't paid.
If you bring the facts formally to their attention and provide the evidence they ask for you may get a positive response and if you don't you could well have a case.
However based on what you have posted so far, there is no suggestion you have formally raised this with E.ON. Without wishing to be critical or unsupportive, have you actually engaged with E.ON or just quite understandably, vented our frustration here?0
