Cheap cat 'toys'

  • Scrunched up sweet wrappers - the sort you get on individual chocolates like Quality Street. She also loves playing with those plastic coated wire bag ties - it'll keep her entertained for ages until she knocks it under the sofa, then she'll sit there staring at it looking sad until muggins here crawls on the floor to drag it out.
  • All three love: scrunched up tinfoil balls, cardboard boxes (even if they're tiny they still try to get in to them). In fact buckets/laundry baskets/hessian bags/handbags/anything there is a possibility they can sit in it.

The younger two love the pompoms that come in this pack from Asda:

I've bought other pompom balls but these are the firm favourite, the other toys are used occasionally.

The older one loves hair bobbles and largish bird feathers. My dad owns cockatiels and parakeets so any tail feathers that fall out get collected and I bring them home.

All three also love playing with "da bird", it is quite costly but the amount of hours of fun they've had easily outweigh the cost.
  • The cardboard tube from a toilet roll, sometimes attached to a piece of string and ping pong balls are a favourite.

Her favourite game is chase though. If you make 'monster hands' (wave hands in the air) and 'monster noises' pretend growl noise she runs off and hides. You then find her, pounce and give her a big tickle. You then run off and hide and she comes looking and pounces on your ankles when she finds you. We can spends ages kneeling on the floor either side of the bed popping up to take it in turn to pounce...and yes, I do realise how ridiculous I must look.
  • My cat absolutely adores empty (and sometimes full :|) toilet rolls! She's also fond of hair grips, bottle tops and anything light she can bat around. I've even seen her playing with some balled up socks.

She barely plays with the toys I actually spent money on!

My two love foil rolled into balls which scoot along the wooden floor. But their all time favourite is this: http://www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/cats/cat_toys/cat_dangler/feathers/137344

When the feathers fall out I just selotape them back on.

All the toilet roll toys reminded me of this. Have experienced an almost identical incident as shown ! ...

    I love these sketches

Toy wise, nothing better for her nibs than a moth, the bigger the better ! or her 'Da Bird' without the feathers, she loves chasing the string.
  • When we had 3 puddy's - Ziggy would jump onto WC sink & shred the loo roll & he loved jumping nearly 6 ft onto stacked boxes, or he would climb the ladder on my daughters high sleeper bed. His brother who we still have, frightened a BT engineer one day as he followed him into the loft. I heard the engineer shout out, went to see if chap was ok, only to hear that Damian was up there with him. He did not know how to get him down, I just called him & down the ladder he came. Guzzy our old gal, loved bottle tops sweet wrappers & we used to say she was a better footballer than a certain Bwckham chap. But the hand or foot under a duvet could give any of them plenty of fun. Best of all are the live mice as we live in the country, if one of the boys caught one & lost - you could guarantee that guzzy would have recaught it & dealt it a few blows to eat it. we only have Damian now, who still likes ladders, carrier bags, laundry baskets, tubs, boxes, shelves etc. Curiosity will more than likely get him in the end.

Haha, I have that! She loves the feathers but also the other end of the pole, she loves to pounce on it when i run it under rugs and blankets.
This has gone down very well: http://www.petsathome.com/shop/en/pets/cat-toys/gone-fishing-teaser-by-pets-at-home?pageSize=121#

my local store doesnt stock the egg shaped ping pong balls. in fact the cat section is getting smaller - whereas the dog section is huge.

My cat puts everything in her mouth, so i am wary with things she could potentially swallow.
She is also not keen on anything that doesnt have human participation, although she will bat the ping pong ball around sometimes, but she is not happy unless i am sat on the floor playing with her.
