If the exhaust was that loose then I would expect the car to sound like a tank all the time the engine is running.
Based on your description of the original fault (knocking noise when turning left), I'm with Macman in that you have a defective CV joint.
Understeer is when you hit a wall with the front of your car
Oversteer is when you hit a wall with the back of your car
Horsepower is how fast your car hits the wall
Torque is how far your car sends the wall across the field once you've hit it

Your exhast is meant to be loose. It sort of hangs off the car on rubber bands, seriously! See if a friend will let you feel theirs (when the engine is cold!) to see if it's the same sort of looseness.
CV joint sounds like a good call. If it really does only happen on turning left, I THINK that means your right hand side (driver's side) is the problem, but I may have that the wrong way round. Goto an empty car park and go round in a circle to the left at a constant speed. If there's a constant click-ticky sound, you've diagnosed your car!
  • Well today my work mate had a quick look and he saw that 1 of the rubber exhaust supports have split

Erm no. Exhaust mount is child's play. Should have cost next to nothing. Drive shaft and cv joints will takenlonger and cost more

May be. But that is not going to cause a knocking on one lock only. You have two issues here, and they're not connected.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • I had a loud knocking noise in my car until I let the wife out of the boot....
