Being offered 2000 Nectar points by ebay-any catches?

Hi folks,
I just got an email from ebay offering 2000 Nectar points to link my Nectar card to spend with ebay, I already earn points on what I buy on ebay.
Is there any catches in this as I have to do it by 31 august?
Usually when I have built up enough points on Nectar I redeem the 500 for £2.50 at Sainsburys so I don't want to loose that option either.
Anyone else really understand this offer and if it would affect me spending my Nectar points at Sainsburys, is it worth signing up for on ebay.
Many thanks

Had this too. You always have the option to exchange your normal points for Ebay vouchers the same as spending them in Sainsbury's & Argos etc so this will not affect that. I can't see any hidden catches.0

Had this email, too. I wonder if I can redeem the ebay bonus points instore at Sainsburys, as they show already in my nectar account balance.0

On Sunday, 31/8/14, I used the 2000 points for shopping in Sainsburys. Today I did some shopping and the receipt showed a negative points balance. So, ebay took back the 2000 points because I did not convert them into ebay vouchers. They should not have put them into my nectar account in the first place then. Now I am paying off my points! It's like a credit card, paying off your overdraft!

The email terms and conditions clearly stated that you could only use the points to convert them into vouchers to use on eBay. It also said that if the points were not converted by Sunday night you would lose them. So you only have yourself to blame for that one.0 -
Hi all I was credited the 2000 points on 28th August but didn't see them till 31st. Went on nectar online today and they were reversed on 1st sept. No explanation as to why they've just been removed. I haven't received any emails from eBay about it.
Not really sure what's going on!
Sorry just read the post above about converting them by 31st. Was that on the original email as not received anything about it since then xMSE 7 year member :rotfl:

Yes, that may be so, but also having read on Nectar Fb, they said that any points being credited to the account can be spent on whatever. That is what I did.0 -

I highly doubt that the Facebook page said you could spend them on "whatever". The email stated that the points should be converted into vouchers to use on EBay. It was an EBay promotion. They're not going to give you money to spend it other shops.0 -
Probably a catch.0
