EE extended my contract after moving from Orange in October 2012

Hey! I started a 24-month contract with Orange on September 21, 2012 and migrated to EE on October 30, 2012.
I just called up to request my PAC but was informed that my minimum term was restarted upon migration. Despite not signing anything authorising this, they apparently sent me a letter stating this stipulation, along with a new SIM card.
Is this enforceable? Seems a bit rich for me to pay two extra months of a handset-subsidised contract that's already run its course.
Has this happened to anyone else?

As I remember it, if you had been in your contract less than 90 days then you started a new minimum term. Over 90 and less than 6 months a 21 month contract. Between 6 and 9 months an 18 month contract. Between 9 months and your upgrade date - a 12 month contract. I presume this was to cover the original provider costs and the cost of the migration.
The situation is different now and you need to have had the contract for six months or more, the other periods have gone.
It does seem an odd way to do it, as long as you are keeping your handset and moving to an equivalent (or greater) price, it would seem better all around to just swap sims.
EE gain a new 4G customer (who is happy) and the customer remains loyal.
I have seen people post that they achieved just that. It may be that there is some flexibility in the right circumstances.0
