Morning everyone,
Elona Glad that the news is a little bit better.
Molly, Hilstep Hugs.
jlhmd Hope that things calm down soon.
Judi Really sorry to hear about Soldier.
HH How does he get away with it?
nmlc I know what you mean about putting teenagers on car insurance, I have just taken DS off mine as he is off to university and it has dropped from £1400 to £200.
Well the good news from here is that my major problem that I have been in a state about for a fortnight is all sorted out and everything has turned even better than I could have expected.:D
I think that I will go out and have cake to celebrate today (after I have tidied the house).
Have a lovely day everyone.:)0 -
Morning all
Elona glad to hear you've had some good news, welcome to Maitane, Judi what a worry, Molly, I hope you aren't overdoing it, Good Advice, my DD's dog destroys even the 'tough' toys in seconds.
Camelot, Moorhen & Tru, thanks, I met up with both DD's last night, & we had a good old moan about him. I was surprised when both DD's said they still had the best Dad in the world, then they explained they meant my hubby, who treats them like a Dad should!
Time I made another cuppa, hubby is taking me for lunch today, we are both back to work on Monday.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Morning all,
Utterly miserable day up here, with the weather we had a month or so ago I thought we were in for a lovely summer, didn't realise it would only last a week!
JLHMD I hope after a couple of coffees you and OH can see that it's good news he still has a job even if it's going to be tight. Maybe just a comfort while he looks for something else?
RedRuby wish my work did a bouncy castle day, that sounds amazing!!
Tru there is nothing better than getting a big clean bed to yourself! Enjoy
RosyRed glad the nails worked well, might need to find out which polish that is, sounds lovely!
Hugs to those who need or want them.
Had a fun evening with a friend viewing a new aparthotel that's opened in town, the hosts were very gracious filling us with snacks and prosecco (sadly was driving so had to say no after 1), no tea needed when I got home
We also got a goody bag with some pamper treats from their spa, a £10 treatment voucher and a very fancy looking box of chocs that are getting put away for Christmas.
When I got home I did the ironing and emptied the DW while watching a couple of shows on sky+, I don't know how it gets so full!
Tonight the BF and I are planning a trip to the cinema and maybe tea out, though if not there are sausages in the fridge. I have a night out tomorrow but nothing planned for the weekend otherwise so I need to spend some time on housework and garden planning. I'm not sure if the shed that came with the house will stand another winter (roof felt blew off last winter so is currently covered in blue tarpaulin to make it water tight!) so if I do one job before the winter it'll have to be getting a new one. There is a bit of a built up space at the shed which I want to take out and extend the slabs from just one row to a full patio with the shed on top. I also need to finalise the front and back doors that I want and get the joiner on those, there was a big puddle at the back door after the last hurricane aftermath so I think it's not water tight

Morning all,
thanks for your concern about Soldier. I messaged my daughter yesterday but as yet she's not got back to me. They moved into the new Baby House yesterday so stands to reason they have been too busy to get back to me. I did ask my daughter if he was too hot (febrile convulsion) she said no. I did ask if there were flashing lights in the room (photosensitive epilepsy) she said no. He just keeled over. However the doctor who came out to him said he would send Soldier for a brain scan if he has another. I suppose the passage of time will tell..... and of course, the Girls no little about his Zulu background.
They posted this yesterday on the charity website, apologies once again for those of you who have seen it but a shameless pic for those of you who haven't.
The babies had a peaceful night in their new home.
I'm physic I think. I dreamt that when I woke up I had full laundry basket and when I got up first thing my laundry basket was overflowing..... funny that. Must get that sorted today before hubby piles his stuff on top. Looks like i'll be washing most of the weekend. At least the weather will be good for drying it outside.
Didn't sleep well last night. Thoughts about Soldier, Mom, My eldest Grandson as well as a few niggly health concerns stole my peace.
Not sure what the day will bring. I shant be going out that's for sure, theres far too much to do at home.
Tea? The usual fatted calf on a Friday as hubby will be home for the weekend.
Onwards and forwards
have a great day all. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Fingers crossed you get the keys today Rosy

I have pottered around today - sorted the ironing pile, stuck a wash in, set the BM to work, usual sort of thing. Weighed myself and wish I hadn't
Made lemon curd on toast for the kids as it is their new favourite thing
and now I'm just enjoying a nice cup of coffee

Morning all
Thanks for the welcome TTFTM, Tru and Hester.
I hope everyone is well or at least as well as can be today. It's my last day at home today after being poorly from an asthma attack last Thursday and my GP says I can go back to work Monday and chat nonsense with nice customers on the tech support line :j
The only thing now I feel better is that I want to eat everything in sight. Thankfully with some inspiration from the forum, I made a veggie soup yesterday which is plentiful, low fat and nutritious so I'm going to make a serious dent in that I think.
Other than that, I'm not sure what I can do today. It's quite cold and soggy in the People's Republic today so I may need to think about popping the heating on low while I translate some bits and bobs between English and Welsh for our wedding and try to come up with a suitable Spotify playlist.
I might try to make something resembling bread and worth eating with a gluten free recipe but I think I may have more luck hoovering the local quarry :rotfl:

Morning all :hello: - bleary-eyed in a miserable, wet, windy Merseyside this morning ................
. I 'somehow acquired' My Bouncing Billy Blue-Eyes yesterday evening - for an overnighter. Still not quite sure how it came about as I was quite happily presiding in the CS all day and he was going to my DD for the day with his older brother. By 7.00pm, DD appeared in my flat with five children in tow - her own 3 plus DS2's two boys - and this one was left behind by the time she'd gone for the bus :rotfl:. He's 'only just 6', but was still playing on the PC at 11.00pm even though my DD swore he'd been 'non-stop all day and would drop on the spot' as soon as they left - oh yeah, heard THAT one before!
I've been trying to catch up with yesterday's posts and can see that Elona could do with some ((((hugs)))) for herself and her OH - thinking about you both just now and hope that his treatment can start asap.
Judi - so sorry to hear about your DD's little one. Hope they 'get to the bottom' of what caused his fit. Must have been very scary for all concerned. I'm not sure what kind of 'medical care' is available over there - hope they have access to a decent doctor/hospital/tests.
for you and all your family at this time. Also thinking about your Mum - hope they manage to get some fluids into her to help clear up the kidney infection
.
Welcome to Maitane - good luck with the wedding arrangements. You won't go far wrong with a man who can handle a spider on your behalf, despite his own concerns
.
tru - lol at the Man-Tru's and their camping trip. Would have been really interesting to see how long it took them to realise they had no food with them to cook ..................... :rotfl:. Make the most of their absence and enjoy your very own 'pamper weekend'.
Hester - sorry to hear about your ex-OH and his disgusting behaviour towards your DD and her OH. No wonder you 'kicked-him-into-touch' - hope your overnight Rail Work has now finished and you can finally get a good night's sleep.
RosyRed - lol at your dgs being suspicious about veg in her meal
. A couple of my dgk's are positive that lentils/barley/beans etc are 'pure poison' and try to fish them out whenever they spot them in stews etc. I don't know what they think they taste of, but their quizzical faces are :rotfl:. Re the blackbery picking - how about leaving your friend at home but you 'borrow' her walking stick, IF she doesn't need it for around the house. It'll be ideal for reaching those higher branches where the big berries are just out of reach - we always borrowed one whenever I took my kids foraging :j.
jlhmd - thinking about you and OH - hope your day goes well for you L).
Plans for today include:- Get rid of Bouncing Billy back to his parents!
- Waiting for some whoopsied & frozen 'block margarine' to finish defrosting, so I can make up a crumble to go on top of my free rhubarb/manky apple mixture. Got some unused muesli that can be mixed into it as well :j.
- Evening meal will be whoopsied Scallops for me and whoopsied Rainbow Trout fillets for OH with Lemon & Coriander Couscous. Hot meal but nice and light
. - Got some knitting/crochet that needs 'sewing up', so looks like a 'sofa afternoon' for me
. Might also help my aching knees from standing all day yesterday ............
. - As it's stopped raining now, I could also do with raking up the hedge-trimmings that I left lying around a couple of days ago
.
OK then, it's time for me to get off and get 'this little man' sorted out - I washed his clothes last night and put them on the airer, but think I'll need to chuck them into the TD before I can get him dressed
.
I'll pop back in later in the day - take care all - luv Lilyplonk xxx0 -
Morning all

Sorry for lack of posts, and apologies to anyone who I have missed out in hugs and welcomes.
Judi- I hope little one is better today and that it was a one off
Hester- your poor DD, it took me 37 years and the death of my mum to realise that my dad didn't really give a damn about me. I don't crave his approval anymore!
Been having a difficult time here. As I mentioned last week DS2 had bad AS results - 2 D's and 2 U's. He did excellently in his GCSEs with 4 A's, 1 B, 3 Cs and a D; from a boy who was have SENCO support and has had depression issues. Anyway the school had a policy that you can't retake a failed subject but as he really wants to do Biology he asked if they could make an exception. They said no. So he asked if he could redo the subjects he got D's in to improve his grades. They said no because he would already know the work?? (One was maths and the subject teacher said she was happy for him to redo the year) So he asked could he do different subjects and they said no because he didn't have GCSEs in those subjects (he had done all sciences, maths and languages at gcse) then they just said you better go somewhere else.
This is a school that has police out every term and knife crime etc (welcome to London), and both my sons have attended and been quiet polite boys, hard workers and constantly getting certificates and praise. I was utterly gobsmacked.
We've managed to find a college that will take him on a six week trial for Biology and if he does well he can continue, but I'm furious with his old school and will send them a stinking letter - but as DS2 said not until we have a reference for the college from them! What a sad end to a 11 year relationship with our local school.
Rant over, have a good day all, there's always hugs here if you need them xx0 -
Morning all,
Been for a fasting blood test this morning, just got back and eaten leftover apple and blackberry crumble!!! I just couldn't resist
Now I am enjoying a cup of coffee.
Bright day today although it is clouding over. Stripped our bed of everything and the first lot is on the line, second in the machine.
Not much else planned today.
Sending ((((hugs))) to those that need or want them and I hope you all enjoy today. x0 -
Good morning all, hugs to those who need them.
Dry here today. Will hang out yesterdays washing to dry it off and need to get the new uniforms in the wash to be ready for monday.
The kids go off to Nannys tonight for a sleepover (yay). We need to get into town for school shoes before then, chat about leaving it until the last minute! I want to get the dogs walked before then. Depending on what time dd's clear off I might go back into town to dd2's birthday presents. I'm not going to buy toys, she just doesn't play with them anymore. Plus they're overpriced cr*p. I'm thinking a nice bedside lamp, maybe a keyring for her school bag and a nice pencil case for school.
Tonight OH and I are going out for a meal and to the cinema. In the morning if the weathers good we'll go out on the bike. I've only been out once this summer : (
Yesterdays trip to the animal shelter was an eye opener. So many cats and kittens needing homes, I'm so tempted to take some home. The kittens that were 6 months old were only the size of 12 week olds. They've obviously been hungry in their short lives. Not too many dogs. Most off the dogs get shipped off to England every few weeks. Apparently the English aren't as fussy as us. Shame on us. I start next Thursday.
