    Edit: Email I just got.

"It has come to our attention that a promotional code, that was included in "goody bags" at the National Wedding Show in February and at an event at the Como Hotel last month has been published online falsely claiming to offer a free no obligation trial to our service . We regret any confusion caused by the false advertising by third parties online of our "Three months for the price of two" offer. However, as clearly stated on the leaflets included in the aforementioned "goody bags," when you sign up using the promotional code "YBD342" you are signing up for a 3 month membership, for the price of two.

We understand that some people who mistakenly took up the offer would now like to cancel and not proceed with receiving their second and third boxes. We obviously do not want any one receiving our boxes who do not want to do so, so we are allowing those who have subscribed using the offer to terminate after completing one of the following two steps:

1 - Return the box to us in a resalable condition no later than Monday 29th September. Once we receive the box and deem it to be "resalable", we will cancel your membership. Please note, as per our terms and conditions you are responsible for the cost of return. We advise that you send it back in a "trackable" way as to not run the risk of it getting lost in the post.

2 - Go onto your "My Membership" page and click the link that says "Pay for my YBD Box now and cancel recurring subscription." From there you will be taken to a payment page where you can pay a one off fee of £6.95 for your falsely advertised "free" box and your subscription will be automatically cancelled.

The third option is to give your YOU Beauty Discovery membership a try! We have some fantastic shortlists coming up in October and November, which are well worth the £6.95 subscription fee. If you choose this option you do not need to take any further steps as you will be automatically renewed on the 1st of October.

    Be beautiful,
    YBD"
New to this money saving lark. Any tips greatly received.

I got it too - what a rude email. Are they really giving people five days to return the boxes having delivered them WEEKS ago? Ridic. Shouldn't expect better from a Daily Mail affiliated scheme, mind.
  • Think the best option would be paying the one off charge and avoid from now. Poor PR though given the length of time...

I never got this email but despite the fact that my account is showing as cancelled, at the bottom it says "pay for my box now and cancel recurring subscription" I'm going to ignore it for now and see what happens as I don't really mind having another 2 boxes. I do however agree that this is really bad customer service.

  • They didnt make it very clear to begin with but at least they are giving people the option now to return box or pay for it. I do really like this subscription, best value box in UK, IMHO. If it was me I would continue but be sure to make your selection on 1st of the month to avoid out of stock items.

I think it's bordering on bullying to be honest - it was the September box I signed up for and the confirmation email explicitly says there won't be a charge in October:

"Subscription Purchase: Monthly Membership (There is no charge due to a trial period. Note that you will be charged £0.00 on 02 October 2014) (Your subscription cost has been discounted by 100%)."

they have some boxes that are refferal only deals where you can get between 2-5 points for buying a box. there are 4 right now but 3 of these are sold out. also if you have a blog they give 3 points per blog review
