Argos Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Options
Well Peeps,

My new freezer was delivered today, arrived at 9, I said to the 2 men that it may need to go through the back gate as the front door is pretty narrow, he came and looked and said yes it would, his partner muttered something about it and then the other one goes well it is a woman......what that meant I have no idea..

So he puts it right in front of the glass back door which is open gets me to sign and leaves:o

I call my partner not happy with the comments made and he said I thought they unwrapped it, I said I would have a go, so finally got everything off and there is a big dent on the door.....this is why the men are meant to check it apparently.

Call Argos on a premium rate number, spoke to a man who said well we can give you a discount (no thanks) or send you a new one out but it will be 8 days, I said thats no good, we are selling the other one and it is being picked up tomorrow... he said he can authorise me to use this one they have sent, I said that is no good because when you bring the new one what am I to do with all of my food (MY freezer it full to the brim) he couldnt grasp it and said thats all he can do.
Spoke to partner again and he says see if they can replace the door, call premium number again, on hold, spoke to a girl explaining yet again, she says I will put you through to technical team, I am on hold for ages and finally someone says "Hello" I said Hi have you been told of my problem, I get a grunted "No", I explain and he says "What do you want me to do about it" Could not believe my ears, so told him he obviously was not trained to do his job and put the phone down.
Call back to the original number ask for a Manager, wouldnt put me through but the man I spoke to was the most helpful, he arranged the door, put me through to the company and said he wold call me back in 20 mins, the man who was sending the replacement said we could do it ourselves, to which I declined in case anything went wrong, so when the door arrives I call them and they will send someone out to do it.
The chap from Argos calls me back to say he has put in on the system my treatment and I am to get a call from a Manager within 48 hours...............so we will see.

I am not a happy person with Argos at this present time:eek::eek::eek:

This is your job to check not theirs.

Why would the person know of your problem? The woman said she would put you through to the technical team, not that she would put you through and bring them upto speed?

What qualifications do you have to state they were not trained and what a nice person to put the phone down, its probably people like you doing that all day that zaps the energy out of them that maybe they would grunt here and there.

Oh and one final thing 0345 numbers are not premium rate numbers, they cost the same as calling a local 01/02 number.

    It doesn't sound good service.

I ordered a fridge freezer from the Co-op and they delivered it, installed it, checked it was working etc. Maybe Argos didn't as you already had a fridge there?

Argos do install some white goods, but you normally have to pay extra for it when you order.

I bought a fridge freezer from them a few weeks ago but didn't pay for the installation.

Changing the door is a very simple job. They are designed to swap in case you want it to open the other way.

Probably just 6 screws and the jobs done.

I have changed more fridge/freezer doors than I'd like to remember.

Yes, they are designed to swap sides, but different manufacturers had different methods, AEG have some of the most complicated doors and if there is anything electrical on the front like a control panel or anything then goodbye 3 hours of your life.

In Short, yes they're nearly all designed to be changed, however some doors are designed by engineers and others by designers. Some easy, some mental.

why people buy white goods from argos is beyond me - humongous lead times, inflexible delivery times, big costs... bought a washer from them at my last house, swore never again... now i deal with small local retailers who actually have in stock, and can just pop it round.

That wasn't my experience. Ordered Friday, delivered Tuesday. Next day delivery was offered for extra cost but I wasn't in a rush so happy to wait 3 days. Was given a choice of 3 slots (although they were 4 hour slots), had a text the day before narrowing it down to an hour slot, then had a phone call on the day of delivery to give a time of arrival. Unlike the OP, the 2 guys who delivered it were friendly and chatty as well.

I'd happily buy from them again but I suppose like all retailers, people have good and bad service.
