In recent years I've found it's much cheaper to book direct with the campsite and the ferry/tunnel separately - though this has been during the summer holidays, things might be different off-peak.

That's not necessarily the case. Also some operators offer off peak discounts on ferry and accommodation combined.
Though I strongly suspect the op could have got this cheaper through alan rogers. I paid £ 53 for my ferry crossing peak, then the accommodation would have been £90 at his chosen site ( two people dog and electric hook up)

Like I said I was looking at peak times, and things are likely to be different off-peak.

It's like package holidays, they are usually a rip-off at peak times but can be excellent value off-peak.

Indeed it can, we've had some excellent deals late August. But this year we had to go late July/early Aug which is definitely peak in Europe.

Thanks,it does look a nice site, Although we are already booked up I just checked it out it shows no availability for the week we want to book, Most caravan parks seem to be closed late October.

I have hired a static for the week it is not my own.
I did check out your link to Alan Rogers although I did not see a static caravan available to hire for £90 at the site you mentioned, I couldn't seem to find any recent reviews.
The site I eventually chose to book has good reviews and an added option to us is both Paris and Disney are within reach if we feel like exploring further afield.

OP said static caravan. These are either hired by the week or are owned on a site, so as OP is looking for a holiday in Oct (rather than eg a new home for their static) it's obvious they want to hire one.
