Just get your 6 months out of the gym and then move to another, might as well use what you're paying for. It might have changed since the reviews and you might end up staying there.0

Put your request in writing to the manager, and state formally that if the request to cancel immediately is not acceptable, then the letter shall serve as formal notification for the termination of the contract at the end of the six month term. Unless you receive a formal notification otherwise, sent via registered post, you will consider notice given and no further monies will be owed at the end of the six month period.
Get your cards in now - you don't want any further problems down the line. Some days, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps....
LB moment - March 2006. DFD - 1 June 2012!!! DEBT FREE!
May grocery challenge £45.61/£1200 -
Why not just use the gym and complain about things as and when issues arise.?
Be sure to give them written notice NOW for the minimum 6 months, sent with proof of postage.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

Gym contracts often specify very precisely how and at what time notice may be given.
You need to check that because notice given now to terminate in six months may be ineffective.0 -
People are generally quick to offer negative reviews, rarely positive.
They've not breached the contract yet so no right to exit.0 -
So to confirm, if I made reference to the possibility of these many complaints (on Facebook and online) being made public and going into a newspaper, would that constitute blackmail?0

Yes of course.
Just a couple of definitions:Force (someone) to do something by using threats or manipulating their feelings.
Demand money from (someone) in return for not revealing compromising information about them.0 -
And that is a crime, under UK law?0

Hmm. Alternatively, I see they threaten to cancel membership for anti-social behaviour. If I print t-shirts insulting every single major religion and a few minority groups as well for my workouts, do you think that should do the trick?0
