jlhmd - fingers crossed for you and your DH. What a worry. I think my DH is 'safe' for a few months, as they can't make him redundant until he's back working full-time, but it's a horrible thing to have hanging over you.
Only two more days of my holiday left - I really don't feel ready to go back to work on Monday. I need to make the most of today, tomorrow and the weekend. We moved house recently (we bought a little house after living in rented city centre apartments for a while) and there's loads of little jobs that need doing - maybe I can face a few of them before I go back to work.
I really like the Sistema Soup to Go mugs for freezing my work lunches and decided to buy some more last night from A*da. They said £4.50 on the shelf, but when I got to the checkout they were only £3.00. I love them because they are BPA free and the perfect size - they fit really well in my freezer and when I microwave them at work there's a handle so I don't burn myself. Every time I cook a meal I put a portion in the freezer for a work lunch - I don't label them so it's always a surprise :rotfl:
Hope everyone has a nice day.0 -
Hi again, I only have 4 daughters, the number is their age
. 14 daughters would really be something although I used to be friendly with a guy who had 12 sons and then finally a daughter...his wife wouldn't give up trying .
Can you imagine 14 daughters? 3 are enough hard workjuliapenguin wrote: »jlhmd - fingers crossed for you and your DH. What a worry. I think my DH is 'safe' for a few months, as they can't make him redundant until he's back working full-time, but it's a horrible thing to have hanging over you.

I also want to get both bathrooms cleaned - why can the male of the species (in this house at least) miss the huge opening that is the toilet bowl? It is one of life's mysteries so it is
I blame their arrogance at thinking they have good aim
fingers crossed for good news for the OH!

Afternoon all,
This is a busy thread today.
Tru Thankyou, I keep thinking it might have been good for my skin, tightened everything up:rotfl:
caz I only had one girl and then three boys, give me boys any day of the week. I wouldn't go through the teenage years again with my daughter for all the tea in China:eek:
jlhmd fingers crossed for hubby
I'm just back from the opticians. My sight has worsened and he was very insistent I need to wear my glasses all the time. I'm trying varifocals which I know can be difficult to get used to. Will give it a try. Also got a free pair of prescription sunglasses for Australia.
I've just bought a Mirror as well. Will nip to Aldi to do a smallish shop, don't need much and money is always tight at the end of the month.
My youngest is feeling very under the weather. Coughing and spluttering with a sore throat and cold. I'm pretty sure he picked it up at the Leeds festival , rolls eyes.
Anyway need to get on, have a good day xStarted Self Managed DMP 10th May 2017.

Afternoon all,
apologies for the multiple posts, have been reading on and off inbetween meetings! haha
Hester your DD problems make me very sad, I had an uneasy relationship with my dad growing up and for periods of time we didn't talk. I can't ever understand how a parent can be so cold towards their child. I hope your DD doesn't feel this is her fault in any way and can find some peace with the situation.
Caz that story reminds me of my teenage years, I was pretty easy on my folks, didn't get drunk till I'd left home (17) etc. But there was one occasion myself (maybe 15/16) and a group of friends (mixed ages, I knew a few who were 17 then) decided we weren't going home that night. We all called our folks and asked to stay at each others houses. In my defence I lived in a small village where the only crime was someone spitting their chewing gum in the street, if I lived in the middle of a city then that would be a much bigger concern. Anyway my little sister told my mum and I got refused the sleepover, oh how I yelled at my sister, think I even refused to sleep in our room that night I was so angry.

Back from our holidays – had a good time even though plans were changed. Well, we had a good time until the end, I slipped off a step and now have my leg in plaster, and am on crutches. Managed to break a bone in my foot, so have to keep rested and foot elevated as much as possible. I go back to hospital in 6 weeks, hoping it has healed ok, otherwise they will need to operate. Not really the ending to the hols that we’d planned.
Finding the not being very mobile etc very difficult to deal with, but I know it could be a lot worse and there’s lots of people out there in worse situation so I need to “have a word with myself”!Hard_Up_Hester wrote: »My poor DD has spent 30 years trying to persuade her Dad to love her,I'm trying varifocals which I know can be difficult to get used to. Good afternoon everyone (waving)
Gosh 2pm.
When I got up this morning it was raining here in Hampshire. By the time the WM had finished blue skies.
Everyone was worried the parcel people would knock when I was in the back garden hanging out the washing. I told them life just carries on and out went the washing and I picked some more runner beans.
I was in when we had x3 diffrent knocks all large envelopes and x2 parcels so all is well :0?
I have had Dyson vacuum out and mopped some floors.Cleaned bathroom.
Daily surveys and write up about trials.
I decided yesterday to spend my survey money = ecoupons I had for Amazon on 1,150 PG tea bags for Husband and any visitors. (I drink Nescafe or flavoured water all day).
I think husband will be surprised when the parcel turns up.The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)0 -
OH's job is safe for now but his hours have been reduced so we are worse off but not as worse off if that makes sense. We need OS more than ever now and I really need to get OH on board
The carrot and oatmeal soup is delicious! We had it for lunch (eldest wouldn't touch it though) and everyone thought it was really good so this will be a firm favourite of ours from now on and perfect as we move into Autumn2016 Grocery Challenge January: £296.20/£300 February: £262.05/£3000 -
Another difficult day for me emotionally.
Mom was not well when I went to visit her this morning. Looks like she's got another infection in her kidneys again but they hadn't been able to get a sample off her. She was away with the fairies again and didn't make a bit of sense.
I'd decided what I was going to do for her today. Last week I went and we had a bit of a pamper session. I aimed to do the same this week and even bought her a bit of lipstick to put on but she was too unwell to appreciate it. Music didn't hit the spot either. She has got this horrible cough. She's always had it and it never went away after she stopped smoking 20 years ago. The GP keeps a close eye on her in case she gets a chest infection but at the moment her chest is clear. To hear her cough its almost like she is drowning.... its horrible to hear.
This afternoon I visited my eldest Grandson and his Mother. He is such a delight and I'm so proud of him. He's such a quiet boy (so unlike his Dad was).
