O/S Daily Thread Thursday 28th August

Options
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

  • Good morning everyone :)

Another late night for DH tonight but at least he has home cooked food to keep him going, he is loving me being back to bulk cooking.

Can't get myself moving this morning so later than ever and a real hi and fly but will try and pop back later for a catch up on everyone's news.

Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those that need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a lovely day.

    Morning all :)

I was so tired after blackberry picking yesterday that I fell asleep in the bath! Thankfully there was a coq au vin in the slow cooker which I had prepared before we left so everyone could at least eat. I was fit for nothing last night. We picked loads of blackberries though, and elderberries and rosehips.

I would like to spend the day in the kitchen if possible today. It's wet and miserable outside so I have a couple of DVDs for the kids to watch which will hopefully keep them quiet. It will also be a distraction as OH's section finds out today about redundancies. I hate how they have gone section by section and think everyone should have been told on Tuesday but they are speaking to people individually. I can't even describe how stressful it has been but at least we will know.

I am making a fish pie and a cottage pie for tonight's meal (not everyone likes fish) but I will be making enough so that a couple of meals will go in the freezer. I also want to get both bathrooms cleaned - why can the male of the species (in this house at least) miss the huge opening that is the toilet bowl? It is one of life's mysteries so it is :D

Hope you all have a lovely day. I'm not caught up with yesterday's thread so hope everyone is doing ok :)

    Morning everybody :hello:

Looks pretty dull out that window this morning - maybe not quite such a nice day as yesterday :(.

I missed out on wishing hbday.gif to Mr Donny-gal/(or 'Donny-boy') ;). Hope you had a good day :j.

juliapenguin - congrats to OH on a good meeting. Sounds like he'll have a fairly gentle 'easing in' back to work :). :T on your extra walk.gif - canal towpaths sound like a great idea when they don't disappear unexpectedly ;).

moorhen - what happened to your friend was absolutely horrendous . I hope this was reported to the Police/any Park Rangers/Council Dog Wardens that might operate in your area - this person needs to be caught immediately. Hope she's feeling OK today and that she'll 'walk' with other people for support from now on.

jlhmd - have you seen these ;). I'm told that they actually do work :D. Sounds like you've got a very busy 'kitchen day' ahead - enjoy it!

HSblinky_ani_bearhugs.gif to everybody who needs (or wants) one.

Had a good shop in A$da yesterday - with a decent 'whoopsie haul' including half-price Turkey Breast Steaks (now frozen) / Salad stuff / decent bread (now frozen in 'half-loaves). Managed to steer away from the biscuits/cakes/savoury snacks/sweets aisles :j. Even my scone in the cafe was only 20p and the coffee was a freebie one courtesy of my loyalty card :D.

    Plans for today include:
    • Take the remainder of the Broccoli Soup to the CS for my lunch.
    • Peppers stuffed with whoopsied couscous and Salad served with a few oven chips for evening meal tonight.
    • Avoid the supermarket completely today ;).

Hope you all have a good day ahead - Happy OS-ing!

Morning everyone. Going back to Glasgow today! Aberdeen had a glorious sunrise though it's beginning to grey over already.

Need to shower, breakfast and pack up. Will walk down to the station as I really want to get back in the habit of walking. Yesterday I walked down from hotel to the university (King Street) and felt do much better for it. Mind you, I got the bus back up the hill. :p

Looking forward to the trip home, I really enjoy train journeys and never manage to concentrate on reading.

A NSD then, walking to the station and using my old biddy card for the bus at the other end. Going home tomorrow after taking my mum for a hospital appointment.

Nothing else to report, hope that everyone is well, getting better or doing the best they can.

    Happy Thursday.

    Good morning everyone

It's dry and bright here this morning so I will be venturing out later to town as I have to pick up my meds and get some electric and gas. I shall have to leave my DD14 at home though as I'm expecting many parcels today as I went on a mad spending spree :o. I was just replacing the cards and equipment I gave away from my hobby but somehow it's added up to quite a lot of money. At least it's payday tomorrow :D.

I am in two minds about what to make for tea, it depends on how lazy I am feeling later on as I have a meatloaf in the freezer or I've taken chicken thighs out to make the Hairy Dieters Spanish Chicken. Decisions, decisions!

Hubby was a bit late leaving for work so hopefully this will motivate him to put the clock back up where he can see it in the mornings. It's just me and DD14 here too as the others are away on sleepovers but I am expecting them back today. My littlest rang me yesterday to say she had won us a holiday in a talent competition :T . I can't wait to hear all about it. I hope it's a genuine thing, oh well, I am just going to have to wait and see.

Well that's all for now folks! Hope everyone manages to have a lovely day. Take care xx

Have just read yesterday's thread and

mooorhen how frightening for your friend  I'm glad there were other people around and they didn't take her dog.

redruby your recipe for summer-in-winter chicken looks delicious. I will definitely try this one:

    http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/1521/summerinwinter-chicken

Caz if my eldest pulled that stunt, I would be livid as well. I dread the teenage years I really do.

I can hear movement upstairs but no-one has ventured down yet. I think yesterday tired everyone out :)
