The zip file won't open. but have definitely not ordered anything nor done any transfers this morning. Going to keep an eye on everything but it seems they may be doing the rounds!
I haven't tried calling the number, as I expect thats part of the scam.

It will be a scam. Some sort of virus. Just delete it!

Just ignore it don't open the attachments it is a scam email, probably to try and get some sort of malware onto your computer so they can mine your information and use it.Time is a path from the past to the future and back again. The present is the crossroads of both. :cool:0

Why would you even try to open the file
Bad idea. Just delete it.0 -
A question did you already click on the zip file to try to open it - because you say it didn't open.
please check that the file name istn't something like .zip.exe as you may well have run something.0 -

Never, ever, open attachments on dodgy emails (and from the style of this it is most definitely dodgy).
Just because the zip file didn't appear to open doesn't necessarily mean it hasn't done anything. It may not be a zip file.
I'd run a full virus scan if I were you.0 -
Good grief, if you've even tried, you've fallen for it. It seems likely it was a nasty and you'll be lucky if you've escaped damage. Run a virus scan, Malwarebytes, CCleaner and anything else you've got.burnsguitarman wrote: »The zip file won't open. but have definitely not ordered anything nor done any transfers this morning. I've had dozens of those and I send them immediately to my junk folder without even opening the email, never mind the attachment.
Edit: And what on earth's this doing on the 'Budgeting and Bank Accounts' forum anyway?0 -
Sounds like cryptolocker virus. I hope you didn't open it.0

Yes unfortunately I did try to open it first on my iPhone then on my computer. I know it was silly but it worried me, and I wanted to check.
I'm not too worried as we use mac computers but I've run a virus checker as a precaution.
Just a warning to everyone else as it does look genuine.0 -
I've received this and several other things. Always with a zip file. If anyone you don't know sends you a zip file its best to just delete the email attachment and all.

No unsolicited email with a zipped attachment ever looks genuine!
A zip file is only used with emails that need to compress large files or directories - and these scammers claimed the attachment contained 'details about your purchase' - which would be, by definition, a very small file.
The style of wording should have been warning enough. The completely unnecessary 'zip' attachment is absolute proof.0
