The cheapest way to call from a landline

Just tried a couple of 18185 calls to 0345 numbers (RBS and First Direct). The long recorded message I get is something like "The number you have dialled is not a normal fixed or mobile number ... ", so it looks like 03 calls via 18185 are not supported at present.
Which, incidentally, is what the 18185 web-site says for 030 numbers.
I'm sure that I've called 03 numbers via 18185 in the past. (Can't check for reason mentioned) How odd.0 -
Yes you used to be able to call 03 numbers up until recently. I dont know when they stopped it could have only been in last week.
Tried the 0345 number again. The end of the message is "this is a special tariff that we do not support" - <click>.
This is recent. Perhaps Ofcom have criticised their differential charging and this is 18185's current response?0 -
My Landline is from TalkTalk. I am aware that TlakTlak is using BT line.
Is the cost of calling from landline here is also available for TalkTalk customer

If you select Talk Talk it will give you the prices from Talk Talk. But its always worth double checking.;)0 -

Its been suggested in another thread this might have something to do with it.

If you mean from a BT weekend-only line with 18185, try to find an 0800, 01 or 02 via the business' web-site or via SayNoTo0870.
Who'd ever thought one would use SayNoTo0870 to find alternatives to 03 numbers
Hopefully, 18185 will find a way.0 -

Could well be, but wasn't BT recently relieved of its duty to support prefixes like 18185? The only way I could imagine 18185 dropping 03 is if it wasn't profitable.
I noticed someone recently comment on this relief of duty along the lines of "BT won't stop supporting 18185 - they'll just force them to put up their rates". Perhaps this is the first sign? A shame if so.0
