Sky v Virgin

Options
We've currently got a combo of Virgin (30mb broadband only) and Sky TV inc. Sky+ HD, full pack with Sports (no movies), we do not have a phone line. For the past year we were making use of the 50% offer that we got from the MSE site, paying a total of £57 for both services, but the Sky offer has now expired.

We're now trying to get the best offer, with sports included. Sky have offered us TV inc. sports and Sky Broadband (Aprrox. 11mb) for circa £65p/m.

Virgin have offered us broadband (152mb) and XL TV with Sky Sports HD Pack for £75 over the calendar year, which will mean paying the £150 up-front charge for the 'Sky Sports Season Ticket'

The house is a shared flat, x3 football loving guys, hence the sports. We're not at all interested in a phone line as we've all got mobiles we use that have plenty of minutes etc. We're reluctant to get a BT (Or BT LLU) phone line with broadband as we'd need to get one installed, and as we share the connection with 3 (or more sometimes) people we don't think we'd get a fast enough speed.

We've already given Sky our termination notice, long story short Virgin offered us a deal for XL TV & 50mb broadband at £67p/m but we were then told us that they'd be unable to honour that deal. Is anyone able to tell me if they've had a better offer from either of the two providers above, or give us any pointers to help us improve either of these offers?

the same day cut off, go online and they give 50-0% off
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

But remember to factor in Virgin XL comes with BT Sport free as standard, so factor that in for your football loving housemates...
  • Thanks for the replies guys.

Chanz4 I've noticed some people mentioning this, but if we can avoid it we'd rather things didn't go down to the wire.

Visidigi thanks, we were already aware of this. However whilst it would be great, we do get majority of the footie we like to watch on Sky Sports, and the extra £10p/m plus £50 each up-front we do not believe is enough to justify the extra channel to be honest.
