Boiler service £49 till 31st Aug.

Could not see this this elsewhere on the site so apologies if it is.

British Gas are offering a one off boiler service for £49 if you book and pay before 31st Aug.

The price is only for a service and will not include any repairs or parts.

You do not have to be an existing British Gas customer.

http://www.britishgas.co.uk/products-and-services/boilers-and-central-heating/boiler-service-and-safety-checks.html

Be prepared for the hard sell to take up other products and services.

Hope this helps someone.

I wonder what they do for the service? Just sniff the flue?
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

You are taking a great risk if you allow British Gas anywhere near your boiler.

Their 'engineers' are effectively salesmen, and they receive commission for achieving new boiler sales, which British Gas then sell at grossly inflated prices.

Fair enough - except that they have achieved a reputation for 'condemning' perfectly good boilers and issuing safety notices requiring people to stop using them.

Do not allow British Gas into your house.
  • Agree with the above post entirely, never under any circumstances trust British Gas with anything, they can't even issue a bill correctly let alone be trusted to service a boiler, or if they do (as above) there's a very high probability that they will condemn your boiler and then offer you a discount on an already highly inflated price for fitting a new one.

My engineer charges £60. He originally fitted the boiler, and I figure that by going back to him it keeps me in his book of regular customers, so if anything goes wrong I can rely on him (he does mine, my parents and the grandparents).

Might condemn your boiler then try and flog you a over priced boiler at cost of almost 4k compared with less than 2k for independent engineer. I paid £30 last year for a independent engineer for annual service

I know for a fact the guys today are measured and paid primarily on customer satisfaction scores these days, they have no targets to sell and no production output to hit. Most advice given here is very out of date and as for condemning boilers....well yes, clearly the whole point of a safety check.

Nobody has a problem with condemning genuinely unsafe boilers. The problem is with BG condemning perfectly sound boilers.

And with BG engineers (far too flattering a word in reality) taking a substantial commission on every boiler sold.
