Upgrade to Sky sports again but this time no HD !

I recently signed up for a three month trial period of Sky Sports.

We also pay extra for HD channels and so I thought once the upgrade to Sky Sports was activated then I could start watching Sky Sports in HD but no !

I rang Sky last night and they bamboozled me with names of different packages and basically if I wanted to watch the sports channels in HD then I needed to pay extra for that package. I’ve never had to do that before. Many times in the past I have subscribed to Sky Sports for periods of time and the HD channels for Sports has automatically been available for me to watch.

I spoke via Live Chat this afternoon and was told that to watch Sky Sports in HD I need to upgrade to the full HD package which is £ 5.25 extra a month. I already have all available HD channels as part of the Family bundle so I effectively have to pay £ 5.25 extra a month to ONLY watch Sky Sports.

The killer though is the HD upgrade is for a minimum of 12 months so if I wanted to cancel Sky Sports after 3 months I would be paying for a HD upgrade that I would not be able to get the benefit of for the remaining 9 months.

Why do Sky make this so complicated ??

Before I never had this issue with them.

It appears they have separated the Sports channels from their standard HD package.

Yes they split the HD pack a while ago. So instead of £10 all inclusive, it became £5 extra for entertainment channels (through the family bundle) and £5 extra for sports and movies in HD.

If you have the movies pack then the HD will apply to that as well.
