I have never heard of any bank requiring you to be at home, let a alone for a fortnight, before they send out a debit card.

Nor do I believe a bank would leave a compromised card active just because the registered account holder is planning a weekend away.

Don't believe a word of it, OP, it sounds like a scam. Go into Branch or ring CS.

No way should it take upto 2 weeks. I once had a replacement card delivered within 24 hours. I was going to the USA and had booked a hotel at the airport and told the bank i needed the card for the hotel and I was travelling on the Thursday. They rang me at about 4pm on the Monday as my card had been comprised and the new card was with me by lunchtime on the tuesday

Once you've sorted this; open a second account with a different banking group. It's never a good idea to rely on just one card,

It's a scam. They would not leave the card open for a fortnight of misuse.
The bank would cancel the card and send you another within a couple of working days if they had any suspicion it was being used fraudulently.

I had a Lloyds credit card fraudulently used and I was back with a new one and the money refunded in less than 3 days.
