O2 not Matching Prices with Uswitch Deals

Has any one else experienced this with O2. i have found a deal on Uswitch which allows me to get free handset, 500 Mins, Unlimited Txt, 500MB Data for £23 per month on O2.

when i went to O2 online chat and asked for the same deal (as an upgrade customer) they said they wanted £28 per month with a £99 upfront cost for the phone. so i said but i have found the same deal cheaper and no upfront cost and when the rep queried where i told him Uswitch to which he said they do not match Uswitch deals (even though i have print out from another rep stating the do price match but uswitch not mentioned).

He was adamant they could not price match even to go as to saying o2 will not cover my manufacturer & service warranty if i went with uswitch deal and not with them direct.

has anyone had o2 price match with Uswitch deals? if so can you explain if it was online or on the phone and how you went about it. also can you let me know if the warranty bit is true if go with a third party

3rd party sites very often offer better deals than the networks directly, which I guess this is. You can usually upgrade on these 3rd party sites as well, so if it's a better offer than O2 will give you direct then you can still upgrade.

Yes they are correct about the phone warranty. For any issues you have with the phone, you would go back to the retailer who you got the offer from. It's unlikely to be uSwitch that supply the phone directly, more that they are just providing a link to an external site like CPW, Phones4U etc.

Thank you, surely though when they have stated they can price match certain competitors this goes for third parties as they had previously (24 monsth ago) priced matched a CPW deal so i cannot understand why they could not with Uswitch link which in this case is to Mobiles dot co dot uk

has any bought from Mobiles and how is the experience of shopping there?

No idea. Have you checked the Ts&Cs of their price match policy? Has it changed in the last 2 years?

Who are uSwitch referring you to?

It might be worth a try to to see if they'll match that dealer rather than Uswtich (who aren't an actual dealer)...

They can price match any dealer they want to, conversely, they can refuse to price match any dealer they want to.

You have no right to a price match unfortunately, so you'll need to go with the third party or deal with O2 directly with whatever deals they are happy to offer.

Thank you, yes it seems even though the dealer deal is for a O2 service Package which will get me back with O2. it seems a long winded process where i need to go with a third party rather then O2 simply matching the deal they have offered the dealer to provide.

I am going to have one more go to see if they will match and if not then i will go with third party.

has anyone had any experience with this third party dealer?

They've been around for a long time and are part of the CarPhoneWarehouse group, so probably one of the better online retailers.
