Upgrades don't necessarily have the same cooling off period.
MIL must have been happy with what she signed up for at the time?0 -

I'm aware of EE policies, I looked up their website, I was hoping someone may have actual experience in taking back a phone.
I'll will go into the shop tomorrow and see if they are willing to reduce the minutes/data plan for a reduced monthly fee or hopefully to scrap the deal completely, although I know we have no rights.
Unlikely, but with the right attitude you never know, you might get the manager in a supremely good mood.
Having said that, they shouldn't enter any discussion with you regarding your MIL's purchase or account.tryingtobegood75 wrote: »My MIL did understand the deal and was shown the phone. However she is 69years old and doesn't understand the minutae differences in price plans and phone details. In hindsight we should have went with her but she is a independent lady and quite happy with the deal - I am not !
To be blunt, so what?
You MIL is an adult running her own affairs, if she is happy with the phone and priceplan, why do you think you should be trying to act as her parent and disapproving of something she is happy with?tryingtobegood75 wrote: »She was told that a galaxy ace was a equivalent phone compared to the galaxy S4 - that was a lie by the phone shop.
Not really, they are broadly similar in function, and for the use of the average person they were probably correct.tryingtobegood75 wrote: »She also wanted a S4 at 23pounds per month. The people in the shop gave her a plan to that price point but with a cheaper phone and free minutes etc way above what she needed or asked for. To me thats mis-selling ?

No, it's simply selling a similar product that the buyer was happy to accept at a lower price than the original product enquired about.====0 -
what a waste of a reply :->Unlikely, but with the right attitude you never know, you might get the manager in a supremely good mood.

obviously she'll be there....

to be blunt, you've misunderstood the point....

because I don't want her to get ripped off !

wrong, thats like saying a iphone5 is the same as a nokia from 1990 as they can both make phone calls !

nope, it was misleading sales, at one point she asked if she could get it cheaper if she took less minutes and was told no - mis-selling
what was the point of this reply ?? you have completely missed the point and wasted both of our times !
Just back from the shop, the manager regreted the sale and cancelled the contract...everyone happy now and I'm glad I didn;t take any advice from people of this thread......:rotfl:0 -
Why did you ask for advice? Everyone was trying to help or inform you. You are the only time waster here0

I find this hard to believe! On what grounds did they cancel?
And as people pointed out, you or your MIL had NO right to cancel the agreement. If what you say is true you just got lucky.0 -

Amazing how much you can get done in an hour and a half between posts.
At 10 to 2 you were going to the EE shop tomorrow, at 3:30 you are back and have managed to get to the shop, get the manager to agree to cancel an upgrade for no good reason and finalise the cancellation paperwork and refund.
Well done OP, you must have put your TARDIS to good use or the EE shop is your next door neighbour :rotfl:.====0 -
