  • Thanks for that.

Approaching 2 weeks now, and I haven't heard anything back from the buyer. I've emailed him 3 times now and haven't gotten a response.

I emailed him Friday to say that I was going to relist the item on Monday if I didn't hear anything. Right thing to do?

I gave him a long time to get back to me, and I do genuinely feel bad for the mix up.

I think because he seemed relatively new to eBay (1 feedback rating) that he was either confused by what happened, or was afraid I was trying to con him, but still, that's no reason to just give me no response so I'm gonna assume he's no longer interested.

    Your thoughts?

I'd caution against re listing item if the buyer still thinks he has paid you correctly. It is possible that the buyer paid you and hasn't bothered with his e mail since, and as you are not able to issue a refund for all the problems outlined above he is not a non paying bidder. As far as that original buyer is concerned he has paid and is awaiting his item.

I realise it is an outside chance, but you could be in a position where the original buyer comes back in a week or so and asks where his item is, if you have sold it elsewhere you have two buyers, both able to leave you feedback and only one item to send out.

Personally I would give the buyer a full 30 days to respond which is co incidentally the amount of time he has to make a claim against you via paypal. If after 30 days you have heard nothing then relist as at that time you can be safely assured that the payment will have bounced back to the original buyer.

Always remember though that the original buyer can leave you feedback up to 90 days after the end of the transaction, and beyond 90 days in some cases.

Sorry to follow up my own post..

Have you tried phoning the buyer in case he has problems with his e mail? One of my Hotmail accounts for instance has been playing up for weeks now with only intermittent email getting through, and as for aol, forget it. The aol spam filters junk an awful lot of ebay mail so your emails could be lost in a black hole somewhere!

Pull contact details for buyer and give him a call then you will know exactly where you stand. If for any reason the telephone number listed on ebay for him/her is incorrect then report that to ebay and ebay will pull the account for false contact details and you will be released from your obligation to complete this deal.

  • Yeah maybe you're right. Will give what you advised a shot.

    Thanks again Soolin.

Edit - How do I go about getting his/her member information from eBay? All I can get when going through the feedback forum and 'contact member' is their email address. :-X

If you log into your ebay and click on the search tab at the top you get a list of options on the left side of the screen including 'find contact information'.

Just put in the user id of the person you want details for and the item number you are trading with them and click. Usually the telephone number arrives in your inbox within minutes.

    Hope it goes OK

  • Hurrah! We have a result.

Yesterday the buyer emailed me asking where his item was, so clearly he hadn't received any of my emails. So in the end I emailed him from every email account I have, and at least one of them must have gone through because today I received payment.

Here's hoping I don't get any negatives, he didn't seem angry and I was ever so apologetic. But at least it's all resolved.

    Thanks again Soolin
