This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning All
Lilly - Special thoughts to you today.
Another dry day here at the moment, I think it's to stay fairly decent all day. It was lovely yesterday but quite a chilly wind. The washing dried really quickly though!
Not enough washing for a load today. DW emptied and packed lunch made - ham salad today. Asd@ will be delivering tonight - the fridge is looking a bit bare. I will go for veg myself as I don't trust SMs to send me the best they have.
Hopefully the wardrobe will be taken away tonight so that just leaves the carpet to be lifted - must get a stanley knife to cut it up so I can take it to the tip.
DS2 is trying to buy an apartment in The Netherlands and I am helping him out - tried to phone 2 banks yesterday to see what the best way to transfer money abroad is and they were both closed due to the bank holiday, ok but it wasn't a bank holiday here. Banks also closed. Wish they could sort out who's off and who's not. Moan over!
Hope those with a holiday yesterday enjoyed it although I understand the weather wasn't good, hope it improves today. Hugs to those in need, LW your furry friends are keeping you busy. Molly, well done on the decluttering, just take it slowly.
Take care. XX0 -
Good morning everyone
Bit of a later dash as have hospital appointment this morning.
Has been raining all night but looks like it's clearing up now, so have just risked a couple of lines of overnight washing.
Lilyplonk - hope all goes well today x
Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those that need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super day.

Morning everybody - thanks for starting today's thread, redruby
.
I'd like to thank everybody for all the kind thoughts in yesterday's posts - they're very much appreciated. Today is going to be a difficult day, but it is so long overdue, that it'll be a real blessing to finally lay Mum to rest. The last 3wks have been like 'living in limbo' - I think one of you actually said that yesterday - and the whole family needs to 'move on' and focus on something other than arrangements etc. We'll be having an 'extended family time' this afternoon - with Mum's remaining brothers / our cousins of those families where Mum's brothers/sisters have already passed away and even one of Mum's own cousins who is travelling up from the Midlands to spend time with everybody. Why, oh why, do we only ever seem to get together at times like these!
'He can do it again!' - that'll teach your OH to cook such a lovely meal - wtg, redruby :rotfl:.
Have a good day in work, sistercas.
I'm another who doesn't trust online shopping where 'fruit/veg/salad stuff' is concerned, Camelot.
Hope all goes well for your Hospital appointment, TTFTM - thinking about you.
I'm off to try to make my bedhead into a 'respectable hairstyle' - I hate it when my hair sticks out in all directions just cos I had my head in an odd position on the pillow . Bet I'll have to wash it all over again !
Hope everybody has a good day of OS-ing - luv Lilyplonk xxx0 -
Morning all
We are expecting DD & the twins around lunchtime today, we have the twins overnight, allegedly they only wake at 10, 2 & 5, I'd put money on them fretting non-stop, lol. Part of the problem is hubby, if they do go to sleep he keeps checking them to make sure they are breathing, it's because one of his babies suffered cot death many years ago, he worries a lot.
We have no other plans for today as I can't see us having any time to do anything, lol.
If it stops raining, hubby wants his hair cut, we might manage that.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Morning all,
Thank you RR for starting the thread
LILY all the best for today, will be thinking of you.
Well believe it or not it is still raining. It rained all day yesterday, I assume it rained during the night, and it is pouring now.
A day in doors I think. I have a few jobs to do, must hoover, although with only 2 of us it doesn't need doing too often, bathroom needs a wipe over and might have a move round in the sitting room.
Hugs to all poorlies or if you are just feeling a bit down.
Try to have a good day

Good morning everyone
What a wet and miserable day here today. Definitely a day for staying home and sorting out my bedroom. It has become a dumping ground over the summer and I need to reclaim it. Hubby put the fans up in the attic so I can actually get to the wardrobe now so I can finally put some clothes away. I have been slatternly stacking them up in the cornerso that will keep me busy for a while. I was going to change the duvet back to a heavier weight one but it's not that cold yet so I will hang fire on that till next month.
I got liver and mince out of the freezer last night so I will be making liver and onions for tea and spag bol sauce for tomorrow. I like to see how many vegetables I can secretly add to the sauce before the girls moan :rotfl:. I think I will make a fruit cake as well as that always makes the house smell nice whilst it's cooking.
Lilyplonk, I hope and pray everything goes as well as possible today for you and your lovely family.
Well that's all my waffle for now. Hope everyone manages to have a good day whatever they are up to. Take care xx0 -

Thank you for all of your good wishes x
I did do the fire place and my chair so pleased with that. Small steps but house is still horrid:eek::eek::eek:
I want to get back to cooking and baking - I need a helper but hopefully OH will do that. The kitchen needs a good declutter and clean so that is my next job.
Hope today goes well as can be for Lilly x
Hugs xI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Good morning from damp, dark Hampshire.
We had a nice day out yesterday, visiting OH family. Sad about the rain as we were in their house all day. No dog walking along the Cliff top.
The dog managed to rip up a small cushion so I was nominated to make a cover for it. Need to get my sewing machine out.
Right! need to put the WM on, I think it will be on airers to dry indoors.
Completed a few surveys and agreed to test some deodorant.
Researching places we can take our dog to on our IOW break in 3 weeks.
Free places are best and most money saving... we can only do walks outside with the dog.
So far on the list is Appuldurcombe house grounds. Lawns and woodland.
Carisbrooke castle = English Heritage and we have a members card.
Walk to Needles point has stunning sea views but need good, sunny weather with little wind.
Different harbours and sea fronts.
Will keep looking on the web....The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)0 -
Good morning all
Lilyplonk- thinking of you today, x
Ttftm- good luck at your appointment
Molly- well done with starting the declutter, you will get it all done eventually
Got all the extra lightbulbs changed, now I can see all the cobwebs:eek: so ofc today will be a good tidy up day.
DS1 rang yesterday to say he hadn't per booked his coach home and now they were all full. He had looked at trains but they were £29 and he hadn't enough money, could I transfer some to him. I did and thought that's ok, then he rang and said he'd bought his ticket but got stuck in traffic and missed the train  £29 down the flippin drain!
DH was livid and said I should make him pay me back every penny etc. anyway DS1 is stayed another night and getting the coach back today. Why he didn't do that in the first place...sigh...:(
Chicken stroganoff and hm trifle for dinner today, I can't wait
Have a good day all, hugs to those in need xxx0
