Virgin (MBNA) Credit Card Applied For 1 Ended Up With 2 ( American Express + Visa)

Hi

I applied for a Virgin visa air mile rewards credit card, received 2 pin numbers?Rang them as one was for a visa card, other was for an American Express (Virgin)?

They advised yes its 2 cards etc?As i could be doing with this i decided not to cause any fuss as i thought id applied for 1 card.

Im not sure how or why im being given 2 credit cards?Didn't realise i was applying for 2 cards despite filling out the one form online.

Any ideas? Is this normal?Anyone else been through something similar?

You get two cards on the one account. You earn double the points on the American Express card.

I think it might be??They mentioned if i make a purchase using the card id get 8000 odd air mile points (as long as any purchase was made within a month?)

I find it a little confusing as they have a white card and a black card??

Unfortunately wasn't paying grate attention as i thought this was some kind of optional preference colour/design etc

So one would be a visa credit card other would be amex.Is amex classed as a credit card?Do supermarkets such as morrisons, asda accept american express?

Why give you 2 cards linked to the one account?wouldn't it be simpler with one card?(not that im complaining)

When you say double points on the american express,is this for general purchases ie supermarkets, petrol etc or is it to do with air-miles?

When you spend. You earn double the air miles on the American Express card.

The majority of places take AmEx. Most chains take American Express (all the major supermarkets, petrol stations, restaurants and department stores take it).

Remember when using it online, AmEx has the 4 digit code on the front of the card (On the right above the card number) instead of the 3 digit code on the back.

Thanks for the tip specially the 4 digit code on the front of card as its my first American Express.

So when i spend on normal purchases i get air-mile points accordingly, who keeps record of the air miles ive collected?Virgin or would it be a separate site to log onto?

Virgin will keep track on how much you've earned and transfer it to Virgin Atlantic.

Just had a look at their site i reckon it would be the white account as im not for paying annual feels (black account) definitely wouldnt have opted for that with the annual fee
