Hi glitzy
I thought you did have an overdraft of £3,000 but had got it down to £1,000. That may have been someone else I have been trying to help.
When IF gets back to you, ask them what rate they will give you to transfer a balance from your bank account. Explain that it is to clear your overdraft.
Then ring Tesco, HSBC and Mint to ask them the same question.0 -
OP, why are you wanting to spend £1200 (plus spends, new clothes, kennels, airport parking etc......) on a holiday when you can't really afford it?
Would a cheaper holiday not suffice?Illegitimi non carborundum.0 -
Would love to cancel the holiday, but there are 20 going for my husbands 40th. Car parking & kennels will not cost anything, and we will not be buying any clothes we will make do with what we have.....YOU LEARN SOMETHING NEW EVERY DAY

Hi glitzy
Have you heard anything yet from Golgfish regarding you new card and has IF come back to you about a BT rate?
What is the credit limit on the Mint card?
Which of the 0% cards can you still do purchases on at 0%? The Tesco one is for three months. That means it has run out or it will soon do so. However, I believe the HSBC is for the first twelve months.
As it will take about ten days to free up £2,500, you will need to start doing it by the 23rd of this month. At the moment their are two choices, do it now using the mint card or wait ten days in the hope that you will get the Goldfish card.0 -
Hi Robflh
Been away to see my friend in wales, came home today to bad news, turned down by Goldfish, if have not got back to me. hsbc 0% on purchases til 11.11.07, but only have £166 left for limit and tesco no special rate for purchases (not much of limit either). So might have to take up mint with their 5.9% offer - credit limit is £5400, not that i want that much and will probably have to stop using that one, as it will get confusing as to how they will charge me for the balance transfer compared to my monthly purchases that i normally pay off monthly - i might get stung by them along the way!
Anyway thanks for your interest, and i agree have not got long to sort out problem - holiday has to be paid by 6.9.07, so if i use am ex card (11,000 cr limit but purchases/ bts 9.48%) i will have to pay that off by 1.10.07, roughly 10 weeks, which sounds ages away, but its only 2 months of wages.
Just to change the subject, why do i have a tick by my post, when i put the curser over it - says something like being registered but im the only one! I dont mind as its easy to find my post, & something else for you to ponder over, how do i put my anecdotes and paid off of debts amounts, do i have to go to additional options and type it there?
Anyway enough of me have you been enjoying the weather?

Hi glitzy
Transfer the outstanding balance on the If card to the Mint card and then use the If card each month for purchases that you cannot make with the Amex card.
Transfer £1,300 from the HSBC card to the Mint card and then pay for the holiday with the HSBC card. Effectively the holiday will be at 5.9%.
Transfer £1,100 from the Tesco card to the Mint card. Tesco purchases are at 0% for the first twelve months, so use the Tesco card to buy all your food and anything else you can buy from Tesco (Lottery).
For the next few months, most if not all of your food money will be used to pay off the overdraft.
Excluding the IF and Amex cards, for the time being only pay the minimums on the credit cards (Mint, HSBC & Tesco). Money that you have left at the end of the month will also come off the overdraft.
As soon as the overdraft has been cleared, pay whatever is left each month off the Mint card.Just to change the subject, why do i have a tick by my post, when i put the curser over it - says something like being registered but im the only one! I dont mind as its easy to find my post, & something else for you to ponder over, how do i put my anecdotes and paid off of debts amounts, do i have to go to additional options and type it there?
I cannot give you an answer for either. If I have not explained it well enough let me know.0 -
Hi Robflh
You are a star, I would never of thought of using the cards i already had - its simple when you know how, your like my own fin advisor.
Well heres the story could not do if to mint bt, so mint advisor said use another card then transfer if to that if poss, so did £2000 of tesco but couldnt find statement, so not sure if enough blah blah - also bill for a card we pay off each month but its always before payday, so struggle to find money! - lloyds tsb £104 and the rest of capital one old % but not anymore £210.
Not sure whether to take up the offer of 0% until feb with mint, as just got my am ex £638, we did have a bbq, so shopping was higher, also £85 b&q, had to get curtain poles for bedroom, as sun has been waking us about 6am! i know making excuses but we did move in dec so have tried to cope since then, and bought 2 light fittings in that total.
My next problem is i dont shop at tescos (average asda girl) so 0% on purchases could be a problem, how does it work? until you have paid it off or just for initial 12 mths?
Shall i still bt £1300 from hsbc to mint - when you say pay for hol with hsbc,
do you mean use am ex and bt from that to hsbc? Im keeping you busy and out of mischief! + how do you know so much?....YOU LEARN SOMETHING NEW EVERY DAY....

Hi glitzy
I'm following your thread with interest as Robflh's advice is also helping me with my card juggling(although you and I haven't all the same cards but the principles are the same). Keep up the good work between you:beer:
If it's the normal Tesco Credit Card you have it's probably like the one I have. You don't have to use it in Tesco, it's not a loyalty card although you get 'points' from using it as it can also be used as a Clubcard. But you can use it anywhere like any old Visa/Mastercard Credit Card, even in Asda:rotfl: . You get more points each time you use it in Tesco but still get some when you use it at other places too. I try to stick to my Tesco Credit Card for most of my spending nowadays as the points I get are always handy. If you don't want to spend them yourself you can convert them to 'deals' and sell them on eBay which is what a lot of DFWs do.
Hope this helps a bit

Hi glitzy
There is always something that spoils the perfect plan.
You have not said where you transferred the Tesco £2,000 but it should have been transferred to the Mint Card. Once the transfer has happened, you should have less then £160 left on the Tesco card. You need to pay this off if possible.
With nothing left on the Tesco card, transfer £2,250 from the If card to the Tesco card or as much as Tesco will let you. The IF card will now be the card you pay off each month.
Now we are back at the original plan.
Transfer £1,300 from the HSBC card to the Mint card and then pay for the holiday with the HSBC card. Effectively the holiday will be at 5.9%. Oh and do this now.
Transfer £1,100 from the Tesco card to the Mint card. Tesco purchases are at 0% for the first twelve months, so use the Tesco card to buy all your food and anything else you can buy from Tesco (Lottery).
You would only need to do this for about three months and then the Tesco card will have little if any available credit. Then you can go back to paying cash for your food bill or buying it with the Amex card and paying it off at the end of the month. Effectively it is the same thing.
In the time it will take you to use up the Tesco card, you should have cleared the overdraft.0
