Flight delay TOM28 26/08/14

We have just been informed that our flight to Cancun from LGW tomorrow is delayed by at least 5 hours. Scheduled to take off at 12:55 is now 18:00.
We are flying down to LGW from GLA tonight and staying overnight in a hotel.
The question is, should we still check in earlyish....and would Thomson give us vouchers to spend at the airport ( if so...how much ) or hang fire and check in later, saving waiting around an airport.
Also....depending on the circs of the delay ( one flight from LGW-CUN delayed today 25/08/14 9 hours ) and now a further 2 flights are delayed....should we claim compensation ?
Thanks in advance.

Their email to you should have made clear whether they want you to delay check in, many airlines still say check in on time. If that is what they have told you,you should get vouchers for something to eat for a 5 hour delay, no more than £10 I would suspect which won't go far at LGW. If they have told you to check in later, I suspect their will no vouchers at all. As regards compensation it all depends on the reason for the delay and you have been pointed to the right forum for answers on that issue0
