Have been paid today instead of the 27th so did a shuffle, have transferred usual amount to the bill account (£1200) which should cover the mortgage and overpayment, getting it in earlier along with the 2k savings means we are making the most of Santander 123 account! Have moved the money I normally have for the month into my other savings until pay day then will transfer it over, should have about £200 left in savings, might pay an extra £100 off the mortgage and start the MOT fund with the other £100, have £66 in there already!
Off out tomorrow to have a nice saturday and going out for dinner!
Did a big @ldi shop for christmas, came to £92 after the £15 voucher was applied and included booze and christmas treats! Also havent done the food shop in over a week so needed all the basics!
Have also got 12/20 NSD's now which Im really pleased about!

PS just realised with this early payment from work its 38days till next pay day! Shocking!MFW2020 #115 250/3000 J-250

Have 'paid' myself as I normally would, had £140 left in the account so have decided to OP the mortgage on the 2nd with this, thats on top of the £220 standard OP! Feels like a good way to start 2015!! Playing with a spreadsheet I found on here which is great, this overpayment knocks a month off! We have a 35year mortgage and if we continue as we are it would be paid off in 19 years and three months!
Have admin time next week so should be able to get on top of the fuel payments and they can go towards gas as it seems we miscalculated, part of the other two gas bottles had already been use without us realising so they have now emptied, so that will be another £110 next week, they are lasting 2-3 weeks. So blummin expensive, may look into the affordability of getting the air source heat pump we were quoted last year as it should definately be cheaper than bottled gas.
Ah well I love the house and its much warmer than our old one regardless if it is more expensive! Snowed last night which looked pretty but none of us liked it, snow is deceptive an naughty really! All melted today which im please about!
Hope everyone had a fantastic christmas!

Thanks CreamTea!
Overpayments made, wont go through today as N@twest seem a bit weird with when money all goes through and its a bank holiday, might see the £140 making a small dent tomorrow and the rest Sat or Mon! According to the spreadsheet that should mean about £500 off the mortgage this month, not sure whether it will be the standard £220 next month but doing the NSD challenge again which was helpful!
In other news, chased up my emergency tax an the Lady at HMRC sorted it in minutes so Jan payday should make up for 6months of emergency tax which will be popped straight into savings an possibly another OP on mortgage in Feb depending how much I get back!
Went for a lovely walk today with my littlest dog (hubby took the big girl out earlier as other dogs freak her out!) and it was fun until he was off running and fell straight into a trench, luckily the sea was out so he landed in mud and didnt get washed away! Gave me a heart attack! They are both fast asleep next to each other and look so darn cute!!!
Happy new year everyone! May 2015 see some awesome OPs!!

Ridiculously excited today! Checked N@twest and money has all gone in now, mortgage grand total is:£183,684.09Thats a LTV of 94.19%, only .19% off owning a whole extra percent of the house and we are now in the 183's!! Thats a mini goal right there!
Hubby just looked at me and laughed, he may not get as excited as me but at least he is on board!

Las Vegas fund was doing ok and kept reading that booking early is the best idea, so I went through b@rclays as they are doing cashback through expedi@. Got direct flights, 7nights in MGM signature suites for £748 per person! This means our savings have covered this so all the future savings are for spends! Woohoo! I am so darn tooting excited! Also £147 cash back as well!
Planning on trying to keep a handle on my own money and keep tilly tidying the account in order to try to get a little OP extra in Feb even though I just want to buy holiday things now!

Thanks CreamTea, got to have things to keep the MFW journey interesting!
Have started to paint the lounge today, sounds terribly lazy but we both hate painting so are doing one big wall today (our lounge is quite big) which is a green colour and are painting it white. One coat down hopefully only one to go! Will do the other big wall next week and then the two other walls the week after! Seems less painful psychologically! The other walls are all a pale greeny colour so hopefully will only need one coat as well! Going to paint the whole room white for now then decide if we want a feature wall in the future!
Also looking out for new dog kennels as our trusted ones have shut down... its so hard trying to find somewhere that feels good enough, both of my dogs are rescued and the big girl has lots of issues because of her first 18months then being abandoned and staying in kennels until we adopted her. She can get kennel stressed though she was great in the last kennels, got four lined up to go and look at!

Ahh had some bad news, Im now at risk of redundancy and have been told will need to apply for my job again, not terribly sure what all this means to be honest though am waiting for a pack in the post. Feeling anxious about what I should do, only been with the company 6months! Currently looking at getting myself onto the nursing agencies so I might be able to get shifts to help keep us going if I don't get my job again (Im presuming there will be a lot less of them!!). This is why I wanted to OP the mortgage but had hoped it would be a couple of years until the company might want to get rid of folk, moved from the NHS to a private company so I knew it was always a risk!
Trying to think logically and practically, but its hard! Will crack on with applying for agencies, even if I re-got my job no telling how long that would be for! Hubby works away a lot with his job so it makes shift work more difficult but at least on agency I can work around him so the dogs wont be alone too much!!

Hi - so sorry to hear about your job situation - very surprised as I would have put nurses as one of the jobs least likely to be affected by such things. I think in this day nothing is sacrosanct is it?
Sounds like you are being proactive anyway. My company which is a large IT service provider has conducted redundancies annually for about 5 years now. I've been lucky so far - I hate the instability of it & morale is low among staff but I just sit tight in my little comfort zone. So from my perspective it's fantastic that you are looking into options etc.
Good luck.0
