New House, New Mortgage!

Hello Jodles,
I really hope your internet payment to the mortgage has worked. Do they deliberately make it difficult to overpay??? Mine did for years but I was very fortunate at being on a very low interest rate for the last years of it. I have to admit that only a few of my real life friends have any interest in the fact I've managed to pay off my mortgage, although it's quite easy to see who your real friends are when that happens.
Please don't ever censor the amount of updates you add. I love reading them and hearing your excitement.
I hope you're having a fantastic week and feeling healthier now. MTxx0 -
The banks certainly don't seem to make it easy to overpay. I'm not sure if this is because they don't want you to overpay, or just because so few people do it!
I send my overpayments across electronically, but it took a while to work out how to do it and they always take a while to show up so the first few were a bit worrying hoping I had done it correctly.
Glad your field has started to dry up, it's lashing down here today so mud mud and more mud0 -
Hey MT! Glad you enjoy reading my madness!haha. Always lovely to have you here! Feeling much better than last week, still bit bunged up and coughing but managed to go on a big walk with the littlest doggy (still only just 3.1miles though...boo!) which would have been awful last week!
N@west have only put the sort code onto one single piece of correspondence since we got the mortgage! You have to ring them or set up a standard OP, those are the only options they give, purposefully making it difficult I think! Normally takes four days to show an extra OP over the phone, as soon as I can see it definately went there will just start sending it across anyway! Mwahahaha N@west, nice try!
Hey EatingTheElephant, glad this isn't the only go slow mortgage company! Reassuring it should still end up in the right place! I jinxed the weather I think! Back to a mud pit with all the rain! Also its the school hols so it has to rain of course! Big dog likes to dive and skid everywhere so gets disgustingly dirty, need a mud room!haha.
Getting peeved with F1rst D1rect, sent off everything and it got there too late so had to reapply, after 40mins in total of waiting on the phone they said my ID confirmation wasn't actually usable and I would need to do it again...now I don't want to cut off my nose to spite my face, oh wait, I do want to do that! Thinking about going with M$S as they have a bank half an hour away and 6% saver which is all I want, you can get £220 of vouchers for there over the year as well, but as hubby pointed out we don't shop there at all...did get a lovely hamper as a present last Chrimbo so perhaps I could just get presents from there and not use cash...hmm!

I think our madness is fairly well matched!
This is how I have so many bank accounts Jodles. I wanted their rewards and the 6% regular savings from M&S and First Direct. The plus for me is that First Direct allow you to save £300 a month where M&S is just £250. M&S also now state that you need at least 2 direct debits with their current account to use their 6% regular saver too.
I've never had any issues with First Direct, so if you can stick it out and you'll get paid for doing so then I'd say hang in there. First Direct pay another £100 if you only stay with them more than 6 months but less than 12. If you don't want to use their regular saver and still like the idea of using M&S then maybe you could benefit from that little bonus?
Just an idea!

Ah MT you make so much sense! I will hold fire on my nose cutting for now! Haha. Will see if I can get the pharmacist to sort it this weekend and confirm I am really me!
Money still hasn't appeared in the mortgage, will need to double check I even sent it to the right place!!
Tried to be helpful to someone in work today, it backfired and I now look like a bit of an eejit! My manager was super lovely and said that even if that person doesn't know how hard I tried to change things, she appreciated and knew, so that's something! Been feeling bad though, so had to have a Chinese with prawn dumplings (phwoar). Feeling bad has mostly been drowned with food now, will be grabbing a little glass of wine shortly, hubby also got me popping candy chocolate, my current fave! Very non MSE and non healthy entry! Gotta be done though!

Hello Jodles,
Trying to help and feeling like it backfired is such a low feeling! I hope you're feeling better now. How lovely of your Manager to take the time in letting you know they saw the efforts you made. Although after your little deserved feast of goodies, how could you not?Your husband has received lots of points for buying you your favourite chocolate too!
I really hope the mortgage company eventually accept your online payment without any fuss. I get irritated when I think about the tactics they can use!0 -
Hey MT, I think my manager realised I was feeling bad for not being able to help. Feeling mostly better today as it should be over with now and hopefully will all fall into place even if it wasn't how the person wanted!
I can only guess I have put the info in wrong, would def be there otherwise so need to track down the letter with the info on which seems to have disappeared!! I am sure its somewhere in the house at least!
Have a half day tomorrow, then off until Friday so that also helps to boost the mood!
Went to Lpool Festival of Lights on Sat, was really good! Was very wet sadly but it still looked amazing, we were saying what a lovely park it is there, you can hire bikes from different spots all around the park, what an amazing idea! We are rural round here so places would all be so far apart wouldnt work!haha.
Been playing with the mortgage calculator, wondering if we could pay the mortgage off in ten years, it *might* be possible if we both carry on earning the same and we can get the 2.5%deal on offer at the moment...who knows, can't wait to re-mortgage, will be able to do some maths with that which will be more accurate and can work it out! Hubby was excited to hear we could pay it off, but made it clear he wants to carry on spending money on the house and doing things in the meantime. This is good, there needs to be a balance!

Walked 4.44miles today with the little dog, my god my feet are burning (need new shoes!!) and my leg muscles are in shock! Off to see the bestie tomorrow, will potter with her dog and go for munchies somewhere nice! Hoping another walk tomorrow will ease the aches!
Been trying to get my head around nursing revalidation, urgh so much to think about, luckily we have loads of online training which is relevant so that's one area covered. Have found some good templates which I will be printing out!

Subscribing to your diary. You've inspired me to make every effort to make more overpayments when we finally buy our second home.
We made regular over payments on our first home which we recently sold and now awaiting for our new home to be built.
Were are doubling our mortgage so not very MSE but like you its our dream home and forever house hopefully so worth it.
Keep up the great work :beer:0 -
Wow! Just had a spare hour so I read your entire diary.
Well done!! That is amazing how much you have managed to OP.
About your staining coming through on the wall - Just in case you didn't know, you can buy a spray can of stain block for about £10 in the DIY stores. Spray it on the bits where the stain is and then you can emulsion over the top, no expensive stain block paints necessary. I had a chimney which had a stain that bled through all my efforts at painting it and even through the wallpaper,it annoyed me for 5 years . A two minute spray job and it never came back, was so annoyed I had not done it sooner.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!
