Windows vista desktop

Every time I try to use my desktop it's a mission.
Been trying to start it up & get on the internet for over half an hour this time!

I've got a nice screen & a Kodak printer (cheaper refills), should I dump it & get a cheap windows 8?

I can probably get something for £250? Less?

Can anyone tell me the difference between 8 & 8.1?

Anywhere I should go for a cheap tower?

I've only ever used windows, I've got an up to date version of office as a work perk.
I'm not looking to pastures new.
I like safe familiarity

Lol, the learning curve between vista and windows 8 is much steeper than vista to ubuntu.

Go on, install it alongside vista and have a play, you have nothing to loose and you may save yourself several hundred quid.

I use windows 7 at work.
I don't want to leave windows.
I guess it doesn't matter if I buy 8 or 8.1 as the update is free?
Any further advice on the bargain basement towers.

My printer isn't wifi, I bet they are wifi.

basically, you've got too much happening at start-up, and possibly a lowish spec. Before thinking new machine, post the spec (right-click on Computer and select Properties, the info (processor, RAM, etc is on that screen)
