Oooooh, also bought another coat (one that fits) for my ds from Next for £18. Collected it yesterday, it fits him nicely so have today transferred the money from our day to day spends to the next account. All paid in advance! No surprises coming from there now :)

What a horrible day. Cold, wet and windy! Think I'm going to have to give in a turn the heating on in a bit!

Got offered another day's work for next week. Still need more, though, if I'm going to continue doing this job. Fingers and toes crossed.

Popped into tesco earlier and picked up a couple of Christmas things. That's the beer and the pop sorted and stored away :)

I keep thinking about how many years it will take us to pay off these debts. It's scary. Would love to pay them off so much quicker, but my head keeps telling me we need savings as well.

I've been sitting here thinking (dangerous!). I decided to work out what our outgoing a would be cut back to if I was to be on maternity again. We'd initially decided that after saving £1000 for our emergency fund, we would save £5000 for baby number 2/maternity leave.

If I was to get the basic maternity allowance (supply teacher so not sure whether I'd get money from council) and we had no debts, we would have around £70-£80 a month spare after food, celebration fund, a little money for me and dh (cut right back), a little in The entertainment fund and a little in the day to day fund. That has made me think that once we reach our £1000 emergency fund, we may be better off throwing everything we can at the debt to pay them off quicker, and then starting from scratch.

We are currently paying just £200 off our debts, and using the snowball calculator it will take us 5 years. If we can manage to find £500 a month (will be hard work but possible) it will take us 2 years.

This month there should be around £600 spare, which added to the emergency fund will bring it to over £800. If by the end of December, we can get that to £1000 from January 1st all extra money will go on the debt.

So, my new goal.........debt free by Christmas 2016 and new baby soon after :D

I'm going to try to change the title of this thread to show this. :j

I'm so excited to know that we could realistically be debt free in 2 years.

I've created new spreadsheets on excel which shows all our income and outgoings each month. I've included the extra £300 we aim to pay off our debts each month so I know exactly how many days I need to work each month at a minimum.

How am I getting this plan into action this evening?? I am sitting with a glass of wine in my hand! :D

    Good morning!

My plans for this weekend are:
Make some Christmas cards with my ds,
Rest as much as possible to get rid of whatever virus it is attacking me!
    in progress
List 8 new items on ebay,
      Complete 3 craft orders,
List all orders and their priority,
Prepare another 2 orders for posting.
Meal plan for the rest of the month as we've got £55 left from our food budget.

Not much of a list for a whole weekend, but feeling rubbish with a bad throat/chest and hoping for an almost full week in work next week so need to shift these bugs! Having a Saturday night treat tonight, M&S 2 dine in for £10. Dh has taken our son shopping and will pick it up (wonder what he will choose!!).

    Have a good Saturday.

I know I shouldn't complain because he has made an effort, but dh came back with pretty much the only items from the M&S dine in that I don't like, and if he's honest he doesn't like! His answer, to throw what we don't like in the bin. I'm working hard to save all the money I can to pay off these debts and we only have a limited amount of money for 'entertainment' each month and to throw half the meal in the bin is a complete waste. It really doesn't make sense to me. Why choose a meal you don't like?! It's not what either of us would choose if we ate out, for a reason. Grrrrrrrrr!

He completely has his head in the sand and is pretty clueless about money saving. He doesn't have a clue about his PIN number on his joint cards so everytime he goes somewhere without me I then have to transfer money, then half the time he forgets to tell me anyway!

Just to finish the major moan, he bought chocolate for himself to enjoy this evening in front of the tv. I don't mind him buying himself chocolate at all...........but something for me would've been nice!

  • Shame about the M&S dine in :( We don't have an M&S near us but Waitrose does a similar deal and we often buy several meal deals and freeze them as they are such good value.

That's men for you haha! They defy logic sometimes! :D

Hope you have a nice evening nonetheless MrsSave :)

Well, dh managed to change the m&s deal for something we both actually like, and then returned home with orange juice with bits (a real treat - I love it), some chocolate and magazines :D I asked him how much he'd spent so that I could transfer it from a joint account to him but he refused and said he was paying. I'm not sure whether he should've been allowed to change the m&s deal as it was chilled, but I'm not complaining!!

This weekend's list is not going to well. I've slept, watched a little rugby on tv and now have 'Come Dine' on in the background! I hardly ever get poorly, but when I do it takes a long time to shift anything. It was queried by a doctor a few years back whether I'd had glandular fever, but was never tested, so I'm wondering if I did and that's why it I now struggle for weeks when I'm ill.

Was contemplating whether a glass of wine should be poured. Won't help with feeling poorly, but finished my antibiotics this morning so won't affect them. You never know, it may even help me to feel a bit better :rotfl:

CC1 had a payment made yesterday so have updated my sig. 4% gone now. It's not much, but I have to keep reminding myself that the emergency fund is going to be majorly increased at the end of the month and then will be able to throw all extras at debts. Hopefully around 4% each month.

Ds has had 4 books from the library today (dh took him) and he also bought him 2 books from a local charity shop yesterday (at 25p each!). He's not 18 months yet, but loves books and sits 'reading' them. 6 new books this weekend and only 50p spent :money:

Oooooh, had a text from Next today stating my latest statement was ready. Had bought a coat for ds a week or so ago, but paid it off immediately, so my balance is £0. :j:j

I've been reading through a few other diaries today (I love doing that, loads of inspiration), and read one who has the same debt free date as me and she stated that in 6 weeks she could claim to be debt free next year. I looooove it!!! :T:T:T:T I am definitely going to remember that, so thank you :D
