Hubby and I had a mini spat over the empty boxes under the bed.... Well maybe when the other bottoms fall completely out of the drawers in our bed he'll think about chucking the empty boxes.
How about getting DGC to make a nice cardboard fort out of all those old boxes while grandad is sleeping.....:D0 -
My OH likes to take charge of 'manly' things but stays clear of anything you could label 'women's work'
We had spinach soup again at lunchtime which I served with homemade breadIt was such a lovely meal and I did get a compliment from OH for it :T
I think I will start using cash only when I go grocery shopping. It's so easy just to drop things into the trolley and not think about how much it's going to cost at the checkout. A calculator would be easier than trying to add things up in my head, I think. Just have to hope I don't go over budget as that would be embarrassingI will also have to be strict and not buy unnecessary items unless there is money left at the end.
I'm going to put pizza bases on the table now so that the kids can decorate them as they please. They love HM pizza and I make the bases following a naan recipe. Once that's done I'm going to spend a bit of time in the kitchen. There's some lettuce in the fridge that needs using so I found this soup recipe:

I will give it a try although OH has said he doesn't like the sound of it. I quite enjoy being in the kitchen which is a good job as we have friends coming tomorrow who will be staying for Sunday lunch2016 Grocery Challenge January: £296.20/£300 February: £262.05/£3000 -
Rhubarb - someone was talking about rhubarb crumble (sorry, brainfog - I can't bring to mind who it was). Anyways, I sometimes do "strubarb" crumble, which is half rhubarb and half strawberries, tastes delicious, and doesn't need extra sugar.;)This is a system account and does not represent a real person. That sounds lovely LW
I will definitely give that a try when I've been shopping for the ingredients2016 Grocery Challenge January: £296.20/£300 February: £262.05/£3000 -
Evening all
We've had DGD since 10 this morning plus a friend of hubby's turned up at short notice, hungry!
I made him a fried egg sandwich, made sprinkle cakes with DGD ( iced cakes with sprinkles on), made leek & potato soup for lunch. I also finished off the apple & chili jelly & a batch of sh*t hot sauce, a recipe my SIL gave me, actually ever since a friend of his sampled it too generously & spent the next day on the toilet, we now call it Hot Sh*t Sauce, but it does taste good.
I've cleaned the kitchen 4 or 5 times & it needs doing again, but I'm putting DGD to bed soon & I'll do it after.
Hugs to all in need.

Evening all,
Hester - Love the renaming of the sauce! Don't think I like the consequences though!
A late hello to 1of3
Did the usual Saturday morning shop. Our friend whose wife died yesterday called in. Very sad and it's horrible when you can see the false bravado put on when inside they are falling apart.
I went to my dads this afternoon as both my brothers were visiting. One lives reasonably near and I see him on the odd occasion. My other brother and his family live in Hampshire and I hadn't seen them for 4 years!!! They don't really live that far away but both our lives are different and it doesn't help matters that my DH doesn't like my SIL.
Still it was lovely to see them and have a laugh!
We are off Oxford way tomorrow for a Christening on DH's side of the family.
Have a good evening0 -
Evening All ( in true DofDG fashion)
I've been MIA due to starting a knitted jumper for DS for Xmas and needing to get the Aran pattern sorted.. Not done much knitting especially large stuff for a while, so just getting my eye in.
I have been given a bag of tomatoes, mainly small ones, some have split, what do you suggest I make with them?
Welcome :hello: Newbies, pull up a chair, all welcome.
Since retiring (early) DH had taken over almost all jobs apart from cooking and ironing. I have plenty of hobbies, to keep me occupied;) as well as slipping in the jobs he does not see. Housework never did rattle my can. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
I am making a real effort to use things up, I have refused to go shopping all week. May need to give in tomorrow though, as now need butter, eggs, bread flour and fresh veg, unless I can figure out another menu with fridge/store cupboard/freezer. I have just made a loaf so OK for bread, also make some scones & Parkin the other day as we had run out of those. I want to run down my store cupboard and freezer(s) as they are bulging at the seams.
Molly, LW, Hilly, Elona, TTFTM and all others who'd like one, grab a ((hug)), Spoons, positive vibes, as you pass. Take care everyone. DGMember #8 of the SKI-ers Club
Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0
