Yes but you can register online.Also if you take BT Privacy they will register your no for you,as will some alternative suppliers.

Well its been five months since Martin started this topic and today the BBC's Watchdog (whom MSE Martin appears on) have now finally given in to demand and now use a geographical number instead of an 0870 number. Unfortunately though, other BBC programmes/dept still continue to use 0870 numbers.

OfCOM have also not long gone to a geographical number as well.
