you don't realise how the market in london was at the beginning of this year. buying a house involved getting into a bidding war with bomads. in my case that was a battle i couldn't win.

If you'd offered August prices in January you would've won every single bidding war hands down.

Does look as things have calmed down though. You'll have to pay more than last October but you do have more choice and, I think, days to sell has increased slightly so there's definitely less of a frenzy.

Selling prices will only keep rising as building is very low. Profitability isn't high and we see today that Balfour Beatty have issued a profit warning on its construction arm.

If I offer you one apple in April for £100 but agree to let it go for £50 and it sells then ...

In September I offer two apples for £90 each and I agree to let one go for £60 and one sells but I refuse to sell the second apple for any less.

Which month would have been the better month to put in an offer to buy an apple ?

They are not making any more apples you know, get em while you can, roll up roll up, join the apple Ponzi!

Andy - Do you think that there is no possibility of a "buyers strike"?

I don't like the word strike, but doesn't it get to a point where people would consider other options e.g. moving somewhere else in the country, even moving to another country, changing job, changing career etc.

Have we reached that point right now?

  • 8 out of the 14 entries for houses in walthamstow are price cuts today.
could it be the nationwide figures have spooked the EAs?
is the race to the bottom now on?

brit1234 went on a buyers' strike once.
Not sure how that turned out because he doesn't seem to post on here anymore.
Don't blame me, I voted Remain.

Are you on strike temporarily or permanently?

I'm not talking about going on strike temporarily or waiting for prices to fall.
I'm talking about people making major life changing decisions (like emigrating or starting a business up North).
Surely everyone must "have a price".
