Keep clutching at straws Crashy and maybe remember to take the pills like the doctor ordered.

I've never come across anyone as deluded as you. I used to think you where a rubbish troll, but I now realise that you have to delude yourself to maintain some level of sanity. I really think you need to accept that you got it wrong, because you've suffered long enough. It's time you bit the bullet and had the good fortune to own your own home. :j

    Best of luck Crash addict.

You don`t own your home until the mortgage is paid. How many years is it to go for you now?

So sales must be booming in the North then?

why would you infer that? are you intentionally trying to muddy your own mind? The transaction levels have more to do with mortality than affordability

And stop trying to change the conversion, for your own good, understand and accept that contrary to the conformation bias den hpc that the uk is many markets and a lot of them are very affordable/cheap

I do have some sympathy for the hpc crew as its difficult to not infer that if something has doubled in price it is expensive. you need to stop that. what prices where x years ago are irrelevant. measure it on the basics of fundamentals

Look at a terrace house for £100k in the midlands or north and ask yourself

1: Could I build that for less if I had free land and free planning permission. NO

2: What is affordable. SOCIAL HOMES. If buying the home costs less in mortgage interest than the social home rents is it cheap. YES

That prices were half (or whatever) 15 years ago should have little or nothing to do with current evaluation on how expensive or cheap something is

Can`t spell and can`t handle others opinions, always a red flag;) Why would someone working 16 hours want an interest only mortgage over the social paying most or all of their rent just so you can be right on the internet? :rotfl:

Crashy can you see beyond 'price/cost' and see the 'value' in owning your own home, that will of course be very subjective, and will vary in detail for everyone. For example I will always have a dog, there is no way that I would rent and be limited by a landlord imposing rules on me about having a dog. For others it might be other criteria, but my number one issue would be dog ownership.

he does own it, look at the land registry titles

A mortgage company may have a first charge on it but that means the mortgage company is owned money to the sum of the charge

If I lend you £5k, and you go buy 1 second hand car, 1 holiday, 1 nice meal in a restaurant. You dont owe me a second hand car a holiday and a meal you owe me the £5k. If you decide not to pay up I may go to court who may well sieze your second and car and other assets they dont give me your second hand car as I dont own that they sell it and give me the cash.

Either way you are probably beyond help. Good luck to you

what has someone working 16 hours a week got to do with a grown up man or family considering if buying now is affordable or not?

If your advice is that a family should throw themselves onto the social and work 16 hours a week to claim benefits then shame on you

Newsnight last night - "Greater supply (of houses) at existing prices isn`t going to help". Every day the MSM trumpet headlines and discussions that would only have appeared on HPC and a few other sites even five years ago, can`t you see that the HPC message has gone mainstream ? No amount of trying to take the argument on to how terraces no-one wants are cheaper (with emergency rates and an I.O mortgage) than the price the taxpayer pays to give people free rent will change that.
