This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Good morning everyone
Am going to try a day in work today. DH doesn't approve but we'll see how it goes. I can always get under my desk and have a nap if I can't cope! :rotfl:
Lamb mince and lentil curry for dinner with another double and a single portion in the freezer. Also made some tomato sauce as a basis for pasta dishes and that is frozen into individual portions. It's a start.
OK off I dash, will try and catch up later.
Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those that need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a lovely day.

TTFTM my goodness you are some gutsy lady. Take things steady though and rest when you need to.
Overcast and cool again here today. We had a lovely meal with DGS and DD yesterday and he relly enjoyed his carvery, followed by warm chocolate fudge cake and icecream:)
Today we are taking DD into town because she wants to have her eye brows threaded (always looks painful to me) and she needs to go to the bank.
JULIE that is good news about your DD, still unpleasant, but nothing sinister and something which can be sorted. Poor girl must have been exhausted when it was over, but good they were able to tell her straight away.
Hugs to all poorlies and hope you have a reasonable day, but keep warm. I can't believe we are coming to August Bank Holiday and it is so cold.
Have a good day

Morning :hello:
Now that the weather is cooler, I've been thinking about winter. We got the last of the windows sorted this year, so no draughts from them. We bought this place in 1997, I loved the windows for the first couple of years then they got on my nerves. They were tilt and turn, I ended up hating them. Eventually the seals started going so they misted a bit. About four years ago we started replacing them (and the doors), a couple at a time. This year we finally finished. The boiler was replaced this year too. I didn't plan on having lots of blankets – don't really need them tbh – but I love making them and have quite a stockpile. The house is winterised
I kept busy yesterday, I felt cold and wanted to keep my leg moving. I spent some time in the garden, the tomato plants have been sorted. I hope no-one saw my attempt at sweeping the patio, I got halfway through and it started raining so I stopped, went back out when the rain stopped and all I managed to do was brush a nice layer of wet earth and compost over the slabs. It was breezy so as I swept leaves, the wind spread them back outI was determined though, and got there in the end

I need to get a bit of shopping this morning. Mr tru is determined to get more chickens so we'll probably take a slight(!) detour to this place
Off to catch up with yesterday's thread.

First time posting in this thread.i feel like I know you already as I have been lurking for quite awhile.
TTFTM - Best of luck for today let us know how you get on. Ease yourself in.
Plenty of cleaning and shopping to be done today so unfortunately it won't be a NSD but I don't mind to much have some vouchers to save some pennies that are nearly up an T***o have some items we use on offer so it's win/win I think
Hopefully chat at the other end of the day and hugs and best wishes to all who need someNOT BUYING IT 2018!
Consumerism is.....buying things you don't need with money you don't have to impress people you don't know and probably wouldn't like even if you did know them.0 -
Welcome 1of 3 glad you can join us. I lurked for a long time before I plucked up courage to join, I don't know why because everyone is lovely.

Morning All
Not raining yet, yesterday was grim till about lunch time and then it brightened up a bit with a mix of sunshine and heavy showers. Washing on the airers which seems to be the normal thing to do at the moment!
Phoned to get an engineer out for the DW, it won't go to the 'end' but the start/pause button keeps flashing. If you press that it starts all over again! The chap at the end of the phone was the most miserable, mumbling, unhelpful person I have ever spoken to who insisted that my first initial was A. I did politely point out that it has been C for the past 52 years as he thought I had changed it! Anyway someone coming this morning so DD will stay in. Had a text from them to say they would be here between 9.38 and 12.38!
Builder came round last night to see what we want done next, it will be DDs room and the bathroom so DD and I are off to look at wardrobe doors this afternoon when I finish work.
TTFTM - I hope you get on ok at work, that seems awfully early to be going back?
Butterfly Brain - Happy Birthday to DD. Let's hope you can get appointments soon. Hugs to you.
Julie - Good news for your DD.
Hugs to all those not feeling quite on top form.
Off for a shower and then work to see what the little darlings can throw at me today - full on 'F' word swearing yesterday from 8/9 year olds!
Take care. XX0 -
Good Morning everyone, brrrrrrrr this morning down here, grey and overcast too but the forecast is no rain and for it to clear and be sunny later on. We came joint second in the pub quiz last night and won our entrance money back, can't be bad can it?
TTFTM good on you for giving it a go back at work, hold your head up high and smile at the world petal, the world will smile back at you for being so positive. Don't do too much though, it will still be there waiting on Monday!!!
I'm cadging a lift into town with He Who Knows this morning as he has a dental appointment and I need to pick up some basics to see us through next week. Going to try to empty the freezer a bit to make more room for homegrown fruit and veg and we seem to have a lot of meat all got on YS that could do with being used up. Off to look at cookery books for recipes and make the meal plan for next week.
Hope you are all well and content, have yourselves a good day all, Lyn xxx.0 -
Morning all
Nice bright day here again although much cooler.
Off today but need to drop dd at work so will do that in a while, I need to make some cakes / puddings today for my sisters party tomorrow, she had invited a few guests to a quiet BBQ but its turned into a big party:beer:
I promised I would do a few bits including flatbreads and cheese straws and some cakes for the children, so I will get on with that this morning.
Will also do some washing and get it on the line and have a quick tidy round.
Have good days all xx
Camelot don't get an Ikea one !! as I found out to my cost !0 -

BB Happy birthday to your DD.
Judi great news (and pictures) form the baby house.
LW Glad that Mr LW is recovering well.
Last of the exam results in our house yesterday and DD1 got 10 A* GCSE grades!!!! I am so proud of her.
She went off to the Leeds Festival with a big grin on her face.
Still sorting the problem but things are much better now.

Morning everybody
- didn't get to post yesterday due to being up/out early and then having dgs1 (13) all evening ............... no chance of me getting near the PC last night
.
Good to hear that you feel like attempting to go into work, TTFTM - but please take it easy and don't push yourself too far. ((((Big Hugs)))) to you.
Julie - that's great news about your daughter, though in itself it's quite bad enough. Sounds like something that my s-i-l had a while back when she'd been treated for IBS for a couple of years to eventually be told that it was a deep-seated 'gut infection' and then required a similar couple of strong courses of long-term antibiotics to clear it up.
ButterflyBrain - sounds like you're having a tough time of things at the moment - ((((hugs)))) to you too. Hope you manage to get that physio sorted soon and best of luck with the wait for the biopsy.
to all who need one.
to anybody celebrating a birthday this week.
Had a good day in the shop yesterday - lots of donations came flooding in which needed sorting out into clothes/books/bric-a-brac. Then the books/bric-a-brac had to be put out for display. Luckily we had a 'cothes-sorter-lady' in the store room so she could take charge of the clothes/household linen items. All this was at the same time as serving tea/coffee/snacks ...............
Called at Te$co on the way home to check out the whoopsies - got a really good selection and managed to use a few vouchers at the same time :j. Also had a delicious free coffee at Costa - my personal treat when I visit Mr T's. Was back home for half an hour when dgs1 arrived for his overnight visit ...................... Haven't a clue what we're going to do today, the weather isn't very good - might just be some bus rides to see how far we can get using a 'Young Person's £2 Travel Ticket' and 'Pensioner's Pass' :rotfl:.
DS2 has asked me to have dgs3 tomorrow/overnight/sunday which will be interesting. It'll be his 6th birthday on Monday, so not sure what I can be doing with him either :undecided.
Think I need to get off and get this young man fed/watered/'medicated' before he starts to get twitchy and wanting to use the PC - he's already hanging over my shoulder watching what I'm typing ..............!
Have a good day full of OS-ing -Lilyplonk xx
