Seller with no paypal

Please I know it sounds dodgy but stick to the question. On a closed FB group I'm in, I'm trying to buy from a fellow member. She wanted cash on collection but I'm the other end of the country so I'm sorting and paying for courier, she's agreed to getting it all ready to collect when given day etc, but she's now asked how I'm going to pay her as she doesn't have a paypal account. Any suggestions?

Postal order, cheque or straight into her bank could be options.

Your seller should not be offering Paypal for a cash on collection item where you are organising your courier. The seller wants cash.

Pay by cheque, bank transfer or cash over the counter. Personally I'd choose to pay by cheque as you get a full name and address to send it to that way.
  • If I do bank transfer though, and she doesn't part with the goods, what comeback do I have. Obviously got name and address already as need to give it to the courier.

If you don't trust her, walk away until she will accept Paypal.

I thought Facebook groups were for cash on collection local sales?

I would only allow someone to send a courier if they paid by bank transfer.

I you don't trust her, don't do the deal.

Have you got her phone number and spoken to her? Have you checked the address on google earth to see if it is genuine?
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
  • How do I know to trust her or not. Please just asking if I bank transfer what comeback do I have. Can I paypal to her bank for example

The very fact that you are asking about "comeback", shows you do not trust the deal...so dont do it if you cant afford to lose the money.

I have bought quite high value stuff paying via bank transfer to german sellers, BUT I knew the risk ie no "buyer protection", and bought from sellers I trusted 100%.

If people stopped relying on paypal "protection" instead of checking out sellers first, buyers would not be losing out to scams/return postage. "paypal protection" is not a green light to ignore any warning signs there may be or not bothering to check out a seller properly beforhand.

No, a bank transfer gives you no protection at all, neither does a cheque or postal order (but at least you would have an address)

You cannot send a PayPal payment to someone who does not have an account.

DON'T send the seller any money via bank transfer, postal order or cheque, otherwise you won't have any protection in case you don't receive the item or receive it not as described. Kindly ask the seller to set up a paypal account, if everything is legit, it won't take more than 10 minutes, and the seller can verify it with online banking instantly.
