Annie Lennox is also one of the most beloved and inspirational female artists of her generation. Her musical career has spanned over 25 years, constantly pushing the musical boundaries.
Born and raised in Aberdeen, Scotland, Annie Lennox began playing music as child. In her late teens, she won a scholarship to London's Royal Academy of Music but she dropped out before she took her finals. In the late '70s, she met guitarist Dave Stewart through a friend who asked Annie to join a new band he was forming with a songwriter named Peet Coombes. The band, named the Tourists, released three albums and had a top ten hit with a cover of Dusty Springfield's "I Only Want to Be With You."
After three years with the band, Annie and Dave left to set up their the highly succesful duo the Eurythmics releasing a long line of classic singles such as ‘Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)’, ‘Here Comes the Rain Again’, ‘Who's That Girl?’, ‘Would I Lie to You?’, ‘There Must Be an Angel (Playing with My Heart)’, ‘Missionary Man’, among others.
Though the Eurythmics never officially disbanded, Annie did start her own highly successful solo career in the early nineties. Producing great hits like ‘Walking on Broken Glass’ and ‘Like More I Love You’s’ Annie has sold over 78 million albums and won a plethora of awards, among them Grammys, Brits (she has received more than any other female artist), a Golden Globe and an Oscar for her song Into The West, from film ‘The Lord of the Rings’.

Great I managed to enter the other day. I saw her with the Eurythmics in Brisbane (Australia) in the 80's. I would so love to win!!“We are not interested in the fact that the brain has the consistency of cold porridge.” - Alan Turing (1912-1954)0
