  • When I rang she said it was a system error and had happened to most claims returned or renewed in june. She had no explanation as to why just that ut would be sorted by 4th sept . Which is absolutely no use to me when all of my direct debits wil be returned and I have no money for food
  • You can cancel direct debits then contact all coy's concerned to explain why. Saves bank charges. I have had to do that many times over the years, rung & explained why & never had a problem.
  • I spoke to tax credits this morning to confirm my 16 year old daughter was staying on in further education so was still entitled to child tax credits. Also had to do the same for her child benefit payments. Why can't we have some sort of joined up system that only needs one form/phone call that pulls it all together? I wouldn't mind so much but the flipping Government now say that they have to stay in some sort of education or training until they're 18. I know there are exceptions (apprenticeships etc) but, given that the majority will go to college, why not make it the responsibility of those that are no longer entitled to claim to notify, so that HMRC have more time to deal with everyone else?
  • The ironic thing is that the tax credits do talk to the child benefit office but you still have to call the chikd benefit office yourself or they will write to you for you to confirm any changes.
