Yes I forgot it has been reinstated but it could take 2 weeks at least
and you don't get back payment
that money pays our rent and food without it
We can't pay...

They just didn't want to know, very unhelpful
We renewed it's not our fault
it's been part of our income for years so everything we pay out we need that cash...

Did he confirm that he could see you had renewed in June?
You will get the money that you are owed from 6 April, so it that respect it is backdated, but the payments are likely to be spread between now and next April or they may hold some back for release at the end of the year which is no help to you. If it is the latter, you can ask them to release it.
I would suggest that if you have evidence you renewed, or their system does show it, you lodge a complaint and seek compensation for any costs you have incurred as a result. Problem is that could take quite a long time.

Ive posted also on the tax credits renewals 2014 thread but this has also happened to us - and sadly it would seem from that thread others too!
I completed our annual declaration the same day it arrived and returned with certificate of postage - 5 June. We have tried for several days to get through without getting cut off because they are experiencing high call volume (what a surprise). Eventually spoke to someone this morning who could see we had returned renewal but their system had failed to pick it up and it has been terminated. He reinstated on phone but like you two weeks at least to sort it and no back payment - will be spread over the year.
We have not had any issues with renewing since the chaos when it was first introduced back in early 2000. I dont know what has caused this year to be so fraught with issues. Most odd was that their system was picking up old employer details despite fact hubby has been s e for five years. Lip service apologies but what can you do? Suck it up I suppose.
We too rely heavily on our tax credits with s e cashflow being very hit & miss. Nightmare situation and not our fault!
Just so you know, not that it helps at all, but you are not alone!0 -
This happened to me. Email your local MP - mine was sorted within 24 hours, once he was on the case.

saw your post pinky on the renewals thread. Have you successfully contacted your mp this morning and he has responded? I had some success years ago with mine over a CSA issue but it was his secretary that was red hot and I think she has retired.
What has MP done then? expedited payments from Tax credits? Im only curious cos in same position as you.0 -
ignore that Pinky, just seen your explanation on the other thread. I should do same then. good tip! Hadnt thought of MP.0

Has happened to me as well. Sent off the renew 6th june, had text to say it was recieved. Phoned on the 1st aug all fine still going through, phoned the 15th aug (over 10 weeks) to get told they had cancelled it system said they hadn't recieved it in time. He re did it said I should here by 2nd sept and they will recalate whats owed.
The first year I have ever had trouble, nornally the form is done before the end of may!0 -
mmm, another lovely knock on effect to the Tax Credit shambles this year. We receive a small amount of housing benefit and this has also been suspended as they liaise with the tax credits office who have lovingly told them that we no longer claim them!
These things always happen over bank holidays too... now cant get to sort h b out until Tuesday at earliest. More "computer says no" muppets to deal with. Oh joy!
Oh, and my MP office has sent an automated response that they are not available til 1 Sept!

Your HB will have stopped because there is an automated notification sent to the council advising your tax credits had stopped. Your HB has been suspended whilst the computer says no muppets ascertain your correct income details and make sure you are getting the correct amount of benefit0
