€uro to Ster£ing - Conversion

I've somehow accumulated €800 over the years.
I've considered booking my next holiday DIY -- paying a small deposit over the phone and the rest in euro-cash when I arrive, but I've found a Package that's much cheaper.
Q Would I get a better rate taking my surplus euro abroad with me and changing Back to Stirling at local bank than exchanging it within the UK?
I'm off to the Spanish Canary Islands later this year.

is there a particular reason that you want to change your euros back to sterling, considering you could just spend your euros in the Canaries?0

How much do you expect to have left at the end of the holiday?
You can expect to lose about 10% of it (compared to the mid-market exchange rate) if you change it on the UK high street. If you post it to a better exchange house (most are in London) it'll be more like 1% but you'll have to spend £8 or so on secure postage, so it's not worthwhile for small amounts.
If you can do better than this locally in the Canaries, go for it.Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks
On a rotating plate, with spikes like Flash Gordon
And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning0 -
@ balletshoes - The Package I've found is All Inclusive --- I;m not planning on spending anything except pocket money items0

Take it with you, use it for anything, water park tickets, excursions, drinks in a bar, everything. You'll be surprised how much you get through even AI.0

And if you have any left, take them home and find someone going to Euroland to sell them to at the interbank rate.
It's virtually impossible that you won't know someone, friend/relative/colleague, who's going to the Eurozone in the next 12 months or so. Save them and you money.0 -
Thanks zagfles - I think that dealing with friends will be my best, and safest option.
Spending the surplus € on things like water park tickets and excursions would, for me, be spending money just for the sake of it.0
