When i say violent thug, i mean this guy has previously been arrested for suspicion of murder, attacks with large dangerous weapons etc...
Not your average loud mouth, this person is dangerous.
This person has had keys to my house and knows my vehicle/home etc...0 -

I think the OP said that he didn't know (and why would he) until he Googled after the fact."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0

fair point, didn't read that bit.
to be realistic however, you are never going to see your money again, suck it up and forget about it as you say you don't want to report it anywhere.
It is all now fixed i presume by someone else, so chalk it down to experience. Not a nice one admittedly.0 -
You can't always judge a book by its cover.
I don't have a habit of googling the names of every person i deal with to see if they have a sketchy past.
Even if he did have a bad history, who's to say he's not innocently accused and now putting his life on track with a legitimate business and doing good quality work!
I know of a few people with not do good history growing up, but now are respectable tradesmen doing good work and settled down.
I would probably wouldn't have chosen this person if i knew the history but thats not something i can change now.
The new work is going to be completed early next week.
In the meantime i need to get stuck into trying to plumb in my bathroom myself.
I literally can't afford any more expense on builders or tradesmen.
Then i have a kitchen to try and fit myself!
I may even be able to move in at some point!0 -
I think there is a difference between anonymous (not giving your name) and anonymous (having your name withheld - due to the possibility of repercussions from reporting someone with a fearsome reputation for violence.)
Try contacting your MP about gas safe's attitude as this could end up with other victims of this man having a dangerous potentially lethal installation. Also maybe ask the CAB for advice. Explain the installer is claiming to be registered but this is misrepresentation as they are not and they are fitting dangerous gas installations. Maybe there are legal grounds the police could get involved. I assume it is illegal to pretend to be a registered gas installation engineer when you are not.
You will need a formal report of the problems with your installation but you can "redact" your name from that. I suggest the Council building department should also be advised.0 -
Revenge is a dish best served cold. Let it lie for 12 months so he's forgotten all about your job then petrol through the letterbox and light blue touch paper.0

If your being serious that is the most pathetic advice I have ever read on a forum, if the OP did as you suggest they may kill innocent people and possibly children. Jeeez :mad:
Sorry OP but you failed at the start by not checking he was Gas Safe registered, if not NEVER let them work on your boiler. You've learnt an expensive lesson, move on, and next time go for a decent quote from a reputable company.0
