I have been a customer of Virgin Media for several years now.
I have always had a discount on previous bills.
I have noticed on my bill received yesterday that the discount has now gone without them telling me.
My package with the discount was always £68 per month.
Now it has gone its gone up to £74!!
Its not just the loosing the discount that has annoyed me, since being with Virgin Media my package in general has been going up and up.
I have complained about this directly but got nowhere.
I have told Virgin that because of this and the way I have been treated I am cancelling my contract at the end of the year when its up for review as I can get the same package elsewhere but cheaper!!

OP, details of when the loyalty discount expires is clearly shown on the bill (well it does on mine). If you spoke to customer services then your wasting your time, you'll be better off speaking with the retentions department to negotiate another deal. Hope this helps0

You have to haggle with them to get the price you want.
I always use the on line chat and that way you have a record of what was said.
Threaten to leave and you WILL get the price you want.0 -
this was prob only a loyalty discount which ran the length of the contract minimum term, call them up, tell them you want to cancel and ask if they can offer you anything to persuade you to stay.0

No need to haggle or threaten to leave in my experience.
Earlier this year I decided I didn't like the fact our service had gone from around £55 to £75 in just under two years so got on Live Chat on the VM website to discuss with an adviser. With no prompting at all I was put on a deal of £49.99 with a free upgrade from 20MB broadband to 50MB. I'm sure going through retentions or moaning a lot more may have saved me an extra few quid but I was happy with the deal and the whole conversation took less than 15 minutes!0 -
Thanks for the replies I might just do that.
I have ALWAYS had the discount in place and just cant understand why they have removed it wihout warning.
I am going to the live chat shortly to see what I can argue with.
Thanks xx0 -

The probably haven't. I've had a similar issue with them in the past and I was told they can only apply discounts for x number of months (cant remember what the limit was, just that there was a limit!) and that I would need to call back up every x months in order to have it reapplied. You keep using that word. OP if you are struggling to pay your bills do you need to be spending £68 on VM? :eek:0

I am NOT struggling to pay the bills, cheek!!
I am simply annoyed that Virgin Media stopped the discount without warning and wont reinstate it.
They would not give me a better deal either all they offered was to lower it down to £71 per month if I agreed to increase the broadband.
I told them no, and I was still going to be cancelling end of the year.
I just think its a rip off because I was paying £48 per month when I first joined just over 2 years ago, and to go up by £30 is a bloody rip off.0 -

Just to be clear....when did you last enter into contract with them? What did they offer you to sign up to their service for another year? Was it just a 6 month discount?
Just asking as you seem puzzled why the discount isnt still on there and i imagine if you were only offered 6 months discount, you'd know why it had stopped.
Given the size of the increase, it may also be worth asking what your early termination fee is and comparing prices elsewhere to see if it might be cheaper cancelling early and moving than staying with them. You keep using that word. I originaly became a customer in February or March 2011.
The services were transferred to temporary accommodation in early November 2014.
During my original contract, the loyalty discount had always been applied to the account each month.
Upon looking at the bill for July it says "You'Re Receiving A Loyalty Discount It's For £10. If You Change Your Package You May Lose This Discount. Which Will End 15-AUG-14".
I dont recall ever changing anything on the package apart from they automatically upgraded me to a faster broadband which they did with everyone else.
So as far as I can see because I have not changed the package myself, they still stopped the loyalty discount?0
